Blu Ray and HD DVD are a load of crap. What advantage do they have over DVD? They fail harder than Microsoft at reliability

hi there, welcome to the discussion, friend!
I see, stever. Yet it would be prudent for either format to truly slash movie prices soon.

absolutely, as evident by both sides BOGO's and give aways, the demand for the software is there when th eprice is right.....i think people can muster up the courage to drop 300 or 400 for a one time price for a players, but spending 30 bucks per title for BD or HD DVD is where the real barrier lies.

sorry. your post read as if you are saying "with this 2 dollar price drop then BD then HD DVD" all on the pretense of this phantom $2 price drop.

Even if the price cut is a phantom, the existence of an article claiming otherwise is real, and if, repeat if, that's generates excitement for a price cut, that excitement would be real, maybe even enough to convine one or both sides to make real price cuts.
Here's hoping.

yeah im with ya on hoping....but id think the drastic increase of sales from BOGO at brick and mortar stores during transformers week shows the companies that getting discs for cheaper spurs sales. Not so much internet commotion in regards to confusion on a 2 dollar phantom pricecut?
but yeah whatever works.....software prices are far more important than hardware prices thats for damn sure as we have seen by toshibas lower hardware and still lack of software in correlation.

I didn't claim it would spur sales. I claimed it could generate excitment, that would convince the BDA and/or DVD forum that lower movie prices would be a good idea.

Uh , no. The format war has to be over and done with before HD media is going to be a major factor anyway, as the uncertianity of which format will be the winner has been a big factor in HD media's mediocre sales. So, if both of the respective formats want their brand to grow and I assume that both do, then they will discount the hell out of themselves to spur a win. Only, it just ain't gonna work for HD-DUD.
Thanks to kenobi after I got him to ban my old account (dallas) after someone hacked into it and being ok with me coming back under a slightly different username. I appreciate our communication in the PMs. Also I want to give a big thank you to vgchartz for being one of the cooler websites around.
