Forums - Sales - SE and the jrpg fan might be the "key" to selling hardware with software..

I'm saying this off the assertion of looking at the DS and PSP sales at the moment; aside of the other games they have made that were system sellers.

Before Crisis Core came out, the PSP was lagging behind the DS a fair amount in Japan.  Monter Hunter has sold more than Crisis Core obviously, but there wasn't really a permanent boost from MH in Japan.     Some could argue the PSP slim was also a major factor into selling PSP's.  However, CC sold nearly the same amount of units on it's launch as there were PSP's sold on that day.

Then not too long afterwards, the psp's sales went to a new peak.  It constantly sells around 40,000-60,000+ units in Japan now.

Maybe I'm overlooking things, but the DS is still selling untold amounts with jrpg's alone in ALL territories after SE started heavily supporting the DS.

Any thoughts?

The DS is selling more because of Cooking Mama than any specific JRPG. The fact that it is the RPG machine though, makes it sell a lot.

PsP went to unkown heights because of the PsP Slim. Japaneese love remodels - look at DS to DSL.
