The main thing I don't understand is why Square isn't making the Xenogears games anymore. Square was 10000x better at it. You don't find NEARLY as many people talking about how great Xenosaga is as how great Xenogears was.

@ChribotriggerJM: Shion's voice in the second game was the one that really pissed me off. It was too different from the original. But I agree with you about the voice acting...what were they thinking??

The problem is that the original team split from Square and I'm pretty sure they own the Xenogears name. That's why when Monolith teamed with Namco, they called their game Xenosaga and made it a spiritual successor instead of a sequel.

It can't be the main part of the original team. I mean having played both the difference in quality is just staggering. Xenogears was one of the best RPGs of all time, Xenosaga is barely in the top 100 (with 2 and 3 falling well below the top 100 threshold). I can't believe that the team that made Xenogears can have fallen so far in such a short time. maybe Square just held them to higher production standards or something...

 So i also got to play Xenogears now X_X... does that also help with the story?

Not really, but you will recognize some terms and story elements.

If you thought MGS had cutscenes, wait till you play the first one.

the bad thing is that Xenosaga 2 sucks monkey balls I'm afraid, but you can always use youtube for that game, I did it the last 10 hours of the game.
