Forums - Microsoft - Xbox360 Live question

Currently I only own PS3 from this generation of systems, but in light of the $349 Xbox360 pro with a 60 GB HDD, I was thinking I may buy one of those when they come out in August. The question I have is about Xbox360 live, and more specifically downloadable content. Do you have to have to pay for Xbox360 live to be allowed to download movie trailers, game demos, etc. from Xbox360 Live or is that free while online multiplayer is charged for?

Every online service is available even if you don't pay for a Gold membership. The only missing feature is online play.

But you can still download everything, acces leaderboard, chat... everything.

Only problem about demos is that you need to wait 1 week for new released demos.

No. All the marketplace downloads are available on the non-costing Silver service. I haven't had Gold since January 2006, and I've downloaded plenty of free demos, and trailers since.

However, as a silver member, you have to wait ~1 week for the demo to become available to silver members. So there is a slight advantage there to be a gold member.

So again, you can download bwithout gold:

Demos (must wait 1 extra week)
Downloadable Content
XBLA Games
XBLA Demos
Movies
Trailers
Themes, Gamerpics, ect

Thanks for the info. Online play isn't a huge deal for me, but downloadable content such as demos and movie trailers definitely are. While I'm pretty satisfied with the content I get from PSN for free, I hear trailers, demos add-on content etc. is better with Xbox360 Live. And knowing I can get it for free definitely affects my decision. So again, thanks to you and you as well Fernando.

Quick question as well(I'd rather not start a whole thread):
I read on Joystiq a little while back that Dreamfall(an Xbox game) could be made available for download, but no one's mentioned anything about it since. Did they end releasing it?

I've heard that Dreamfall will be on XBO as well. I would assume that it will debut sometime in the next few months.

Awesome, thanks!
Just in time for when I get my 360. Believe it or not, I'm extremely interested in that title and it's one of the reasons I'm getting a 360(weird system seller, I know) . Only found out about it recently. I've been scouring the the used game bins in anticipation of playing it on the 360. A downloadable version would rock if I can't find a copy between now and then.
