im getting a HD tv this year and i want to know what the best hdmi cabels are, and how much they cose. i saw a madcats one at big w for $28.95 (au) but am i better off buying an expensive one, and if i am what do you recommend and what are the prices.

It's digital. All HDMI cables are practically the same unless you are transmitting over really long distances. Get a cheap $5-$10 cable online. www.monoprice.com is your friend.

really awsum, another questiomn: what does HDMI/HDMI to HDMI/component cables or watever, how do i know which one i need, does it depend on my tv?

There's no such thing as HDMI-->component cables, unless you have some sort of converter box.

check if your tv supports hdmi (you can just look where all the ports are) if so than use hdmi.
what i do is send video through hdmi and sound through the standard defenition cables the ps3 comes with.
so i have hd video and sorround sound because my home theater is old and does not support hdmi.
if you have a home theater that supports hdmi you can easily just use one cable, or if you dont care about surround sound than just go with your tv speakers.

As others have said, $9 on a place like newgg.com can provide you with the same 6 foot HDMI cable that would otherwise cost $100+ at a place like Best buy or Circuit City.
