Actually it was a half done Tactics Ogre "ripoff". The only reason ripoff is in parenthesis is that it was made by the same team... who so impressed with Tactics Ogre, Square pretty much bought to make a near copy. Tactics Ogre was also better then Final Fantasy Tactics in just about every way.

i would not argue that at all. Ogre games are some of my favorites of all time.
I still remember playing that and ogre battle 64...man good time.s
Owner of all consoles cept DS.....Currently in love with prototype!
| Ajax said: The story of FFT is told too complicated to get it the first time through the game for most people, but that's not only because of the script, but also because the story IS complicated, but so is Xenogears' plot, but fact remains, that the story of Tactics is great and one of the most mature around, it's a very tragic and sad story, but great. |
The story is complicated... it's basically a stepped down simpler version of the Tactics Ogre story.
With the Church being Branta(with a little lodis thrown in), The Deathcorps being the Garganstans and Larg and crew being Duke Rongway and following the Walstanian nobles side.
With the Zodiac characters playing the parts of the Ogres.

Ok first off you can compare reviews of a 10 year old game to a new game, completely DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND SITES REVIEWING IT. also Final fantasy tactics the lion war -88 Advance-87.7 look before you post. |
Wow, interesting post.
First - you just compared games from different generations. Exactly what you complained about me doing.
Second - look before you post. What did Ajax say? "the original Final Fantasy tactics.". Correct. The Original, not the lion war. You did, for some obscure reason, try to turn this into a discussion about whether the ones on Sony or Nintendo platforms are better. I have no intention of getting into that.
Third - Okay, so we have no proof at all about whether FFT or FFT:A is better. How the heck could you then write "are you kidding me?" to another person's post, simply because he disagreed with you.
Even though you're on the Internet, being nice is allowed. You could act mean to others, but remember that you don't have to.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS
Oh now it's about Tactics Ogre all of a sudden. I might be mistaken, but I thought I read something about FFTA.

That's the point. Well one point anyway.
FFT was nothing but a clone of TO in almost everything. What it didn't take from there it took from FF5.
It was on a whole pretty unoriginal. Fun, but unoriginal. Unlike FFTA which evolved the genre and the series.

Original FFT or Lions War, no real difference really, some anime and some script changes. I just beated Lions War two months ago.

Oh now it's problem is that it's not original. Just take a look around the world, and notice how many 'not original' things actually are great and rule.

It's a problem when it's an inferior copy.
When compared to Tactics Ogre or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance which... well advanced just about everything in FFT.
What didn't you like about FFTA? Did the laws make the game too hard for you?
You can complain about the story... I guess if you don't really get it.
It's a decent story however about how living in a fantasy world is never healthy no matter how cool that reality is... and in the end you have to look at your problems and shortcomings in real life and deal with them rather then constantly hide.
A story that granted may be distrubing for your average videogame player... but still a story worth telling.
