I went to my Target and they are all out of the Pro. I think the clearance sale will bump up 360 number for a short while (at least during slow summer months). As far as price cut for Arcade and Elite, I don't think that's going to happen from what I think Microsoft is trying to do.

Most people are buying the Pro anyway. I think they are going to hold on to this price for as long as they can. Their current sale even if it's lower than PS3 overall are probably still better than what they were projecting so why lower the price if your product sale is already exceed your expectation. Their goal has been for the last three quarters is to be profitable division of Microsoft.

This is exactly the same kind of price drop the 60GB PS3 got when it was being phased out.

This a bad move by MS, Sony is gaining momentum, the 360 needs a permanent price drop. Why a 60GB drive, it's the same thing Sony has been doing. I can't see anyone saying, "Man, I really want a 360, only if it had 40 more GB".

The impact of this price cut wont be long lived, just like the 20 gig model.

They are trying to apeal to the kid audience these days and leaving the hardcore gamers in the dust! Crystal Clear.

Some things to ponder.

Checking newegg. Laptop 20GB hdd cannot be found. Only 40GB hdd is $6 more than a $60GB hdd. So a 20GB hdd is propably at least $10 more than 60GB hdd. MS manufacturing ranout of 20GB hdd and it is stupid to pay more for less capacity. So they want to start producing the 60GB 360's.

So they have probably 300K or more 20GB pro models. They may or may not have plans to reduce price in the fall after Jasper motherboard is main units being sold. What do you do?

You keep prices the same on Arcade (Doesnt have hdd) and Elite has 120GB hdd. They also are not made in same quantities. You offer all shipped 20GB Pro's for $299 to clear them out. Some 20GB hdd you rip laptop hdd out and replace with 60GB drives. In July, August and September you clear out the remaining Falcons through sales of Elite and Arcade at normal prices, 60GB at $350 and 20GB you clear out in July and August.

Then in October timeframe the jasper lineup comes out for all SKU's at new lower prices perhaps. Either lower prices or more profit or more features.

Heh, I was sure they would never do a permanent drop unless it was temp, we may see one around the holiday but the U.S dollar may drop to where 2 dollars = 1 euro and M$ can't cut the price to get shitty currency(not that M$ can't afford it, but if you know their history it isn't in their character).
