I'm not talking for the 360--F*ck that.  I'm talking a standalone player that was $200, and very well-advertised.  Would this cut into PS3 sales in any way?

Don't call this a rumour or anything, it's just a funny scenario that popped into my head.

Doesn`t Sony own part of the rights to the Blu ray?

I'm not sure anyone would buy it :P When I go to the local store to browse for HARDWARE, the last name I'd be looking out for is Microsoft :x If anything, I'd be more worried about Sony making a 360 if they follow through with they're allowing of other hardware producers to make the system :D

That and if they did make one for cheap, and people did buy them, it would give Sony more money per disc sold, and pretty much seal the deal on a blu-ray reader being in the next xbox :P Sony wins either way.

M$ isn't looking into getting into the electronics hardware market. But if some other company did offer a cheap Blu-Ray player...maybe.

A blu ray player is never coming to the xbox and probablt never to micrsoft as theyre not really a hardware manafacturer like sony more software based they are.
