Forums - Microsoft - Should I get an Xbox 360 next week, or play WoW and get a 360 this Xmas?

As much as I love WoW I would get a 360 on Sunday. $299 is a solid price, you will have plenty of games to keep you going and you can get more for your money this Sunday with some of the deals. Target probably be the best throwing in a $50 gift card.

Target has $50 gift card? Thats great, target is only 2 blocks from my house! Is blue Dragon/lost oddesy platinum hits yet?

Am I better off getting Elder Scrolls and either Blue Dragon or LO, or should I get Elder Scrolls Game of the Year edition?

I'll give you advice but that's your decision in my opinion you should get:
A Wii,Super Mario Galaxy(For single player fun) and SSBB(For multiplayer online) then if you beat smg and ge bored playing ssbb(which is impossible)you should get Mario kart wii.If you dislike nintendo consoles then you should get a 360 with Call of duty 4,Halo 3 and Gears of war but it depends on you or insted of halo get GTA4 since with COD4 and Gears you already have 1st person shooter action.

If you are getting a 360 then save money so you can get Banjo at the end of the year.

Sorry about that it is actually $25.

I would certainly reccomend the Elder Scrolls Game of the Year edition if you have yet to ever play it, you will want all the content. Blue Dragon (never played) I cannot make a call on that, but LO is solid.

My advice is ignor about 90% of the postings on this thread telling you to try another opinion. Stick with your current plans of a 360 or WOW (I'm partial to this, since I'm also trying to grind my druid...I want that bird form).

I am a very big Nintendo fan, only owned GC and GBA last gen and N64 and GB before that. Also played NES when I was 2 and bought a SNES when I was 10 along with like 3 games just to have it. I have SMG, Mario Kart, and Brawl. The only one I like more than thier predisesor is Mario Kart, and that is due to online and retro courses. I don't really like Wiis graphics, controller, or cuasual focus, though I do still love Nintendos first party games and can't wait for Pikmin 3, Kirby Wario, Wario Land the Shake Demension, and hopefully a good star fox like star fox 64 that allows useage of the GC controller.

Well, sorta. I am going to take money outa the bank, which my parents hate (only let me do it to buy ocarina of time, which they made me buy becuase they said it was the best game ever according to reviews everwhere in major magazines lol) and if I buy the $30 version with a gift card it won't cost much, but without it Elder scrolls will be almost $40 with tax. How many more hours of gameplay does GotY editon offer?

edit- If I get the normal version, can I download GotY content over Xbox live later for $20-35?

A waste of money either way imo

Why do you say that? Is it becuase you feel 360 has bad games, or possibly becuase you view RRoD as crippling? Both are ok with me; 3 year warranty is enough, new Xbox will be out after that, and there are many games I want for 360.

I can see why you would find WoW a waste, but if I play 3 or more hours a day WoW is quite fun, and several of my friends play WoW on the same server as my Druid.

I say this because (and remember this is my opinion and a lot of people will disagree):

The Xbox 360 is pretty expensive and on top of that you'll be paying $50 per year to play online with your friends. So if your planning on playing your system online for the next 5 years add $250 to the 360s price tag. Some people say that live is so much better then PSN that it's wort the extra $50 per year. I disagree but then again that's opinion. Remember if anyone says you have to pay for quality think RROD.

PS3 has a built in Bluray player and uses Bluray as it's standard format. Now the bluray player is only significant really if you have an HDTV. If you don't have an HDTV and don't plan on getting one for the next 10 years then no you shouldn't care.

People say that 360 has a better games lineup then PS3. But that argument was much more valid last year. The quality games lineup gap is closing. Actually IMO it's gone.

On to WoW.

WoW is a grindfest. So expect to pump close to 1500+ hours on WoW before you reach max Lvl (70). You can't expect to have much fun doing PVP on Wow untill you reach that level. Some people say they don't care about PVP. I ask the question: are you really going to burn that much time building a character up and not try and compete against other gamers? Wow has made a new Arena though where you can make a character at max lvl (a la guild, wars a better subscription free mmo imo). Finally gaming done in excess can be a vice. Having a game that you have to play either because of its extremely addictive nature or the fact that you are wasting money every day you don't play may or may not be a good thing depending on how you view it.

So thats why I feel the way I do about the 360 and WoW, and that's why a lot of people on this site hate on me.

that's not why... it's because you where quite rude when you first joined up.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

jeez dude, just play wow and forget the 360. Banjo isn't worth that kind of investment. Instead invest your money in something that is worthwhile like nintendo or sony stock, either way it will only earn you more money, and give you experience in the market.
Or you could do a sleep study and make 5000 dollars and then buy whatever you want. like a gallon of gas, or some solar panels.
WoW is a great game, and if mowing lawns is enough to get you throuhg a summer (you must be a dependant i'm guessing), then mow your lawns, play Wow as a new character or continue, and invest into a portfolio.
