Forums - General - What do you think of Mexico?

I'm from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. The city is in the border with Laredo, Tx.

I have a house in Nuevo Laredo and Laredo, Tx. The International Bridge is at 15 min. from both houses, so I can travel between the countries very quickly.

Both Nuevo Laredo and Laredo, Tx. are small cities... around 200,000 persons in each city.

I have notices that a lot of people in USA still has a very stereotyped view of Mexico, like for example, that we dress with sombreros and zarapes... that we drink tequila even in the breakfast or that we travel in horses instead of cars.

Sure, we are not as big as USA, but is a nice place to live. Well, Mexico City is ugly... too bad that the country capital is in there.

This are some pics of mi city.

I would prefer to live in France, Italy, Spain, England, Japan, etc. than in Mexico.

There are insane taxes for everything, wages are extremely low, services are expensive, technology is even more expensive, I hate the weather and the government is evil and corrupt. Do not like.

At least most people are nice and girls are really pretty.

For some reason, I always thought you were a Spaniard.

And Mexico's alright. The food's the best (although I've got a bit of hometown bias there, obviously), but since I've only been to a few plalces (D.F., Aguascalientes, Tijuana, and Guadalajara) I'm probably not in the best position to judge.

What are you frowning for? Your post has existed less than an hour.

Mexicans, I like. Mexico, not so much, mostly due to the fact that your police (los fedarales) are corrupt and racist to gringoes. I've known several people who visited Mexico and have been held in prison for several hundred dollars bail without a sound reason for the charge. Plus Mexico harbors too many drug dealers, making trafficking into the US easier. It's a shame that so much corruption has spread there, in a land rich with ancient culture. It is the corruption which will make me never visit there.

The closest I've been to Mexico is San Antonio, Texas, and I love that town. The saving grace of Texas, I call it.

Mexico is worse than Greece, and that's saying a lot.

That's a fair attitude, to be honest. Although if it makes you feel any better, the natives are often treated just as poorly in a lot of areas.

That's a damn shame, and they don't have the power to fight back or do anything about it either. Maybe when people in the US get sick of the govt and overthrow it, we'll come down and help overthrow the mexican govt too and give the natives the power. =)
