Gow2 better have an amazing storyline at least 10 times bettter than Gow1 or Halo's if it is going to win me over. If there isn't a vast improvement in that area then GoW2 is going to be quite a disappointingly stangnant "upgrade".

Cliff seems to be doing that by hiring a novelist/comic book writer.

True, but I doubt they'll give him much creative freedom to write a truly compelling story considering that cliff dissed exactly the richly detailed narrative of MGS4. I'm expecting 2 minute cutscenes of melodrama interlaced with 1 minute `badass`action scenes.

Quite a few cutscenes in Gears 1 were 5min +

I am starting to wonder if 360 owners will play a story-heavy shooter.  If MGS4's sales are any indication, then maybe.

I love sci fi. And I think Halo trilogy has one of the best stories in Sci fi entertainment. Ok so it borrows in places, but it's quite in depth to. It has the perfect mix of cutscenes and ingame storytelling. I bought every Halo for the story not for the online.

I actually cant wait for gears, but I just dont see how it will be upgraded that much

Just due to the short amount of time between games you know it will not be that much of an upgrade, granted it will sell like crazy and most likely get overrated. Not many games get the luxury of long development like GTA, MGS or Halo. Maybe if revenue is high enough they will have a nice 3 or more year gap for GeoW 3

Gears of War 2 doesn't need that much of an upgrade since the basic gameplay was/is already fun.  The reason why GTA and MGS takes longer to make is because they are bigger in size overall than GoW.

Ssyn. Is there any reason you are jumping on all of the 360 threads and bashing it? Stop posting here if your not going to post anything constructive, or I will give you a ban.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Woah, using old FUD (halo3=halo2) just to FUD gears2. Now that's something you don't see every day.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I won't talk about the upgrade from GOW to GOW2 but in terms of upgrading from its predecessor Halo 3 did a great job. It's rich in features such as forge and theater mode (I personally have spent alot of time with both), the graphics are obviously updated and the rest is what you would typically expect from a sequel.

Even though the 2nd and 3rd halo games are overrated, they did do a nice job of upgrading from the 2nd to the 3rd one. And I still play no. 3 today.
