Forums - Microsoft - Gears 2=Halo 3 in terms of upgrade from the predecessor.

Gears 2 will be a reason to get myself an xbox 360 because its gears, first thing that comes up is curb stomping, anyone seen the new executions they added to this game? Bad Ass. The game is Gears 2, it made a name for itself = reputation

 actually  multiple things in halo 3 were improved big time, including weapons and graphics. The graphics in halo 3 were big time improved over halo 2.

Halo 2 -> Halo 3 graphically was very underwhelming, how can you say with a straight face that they were improved "big time"?

It was basically the same game!

Halo3 was so much better looking then 2, the images posted in this thread prove that.  Halo3 is one of the best looking games this gen.

Gears 2 will be a much better sequel than Halo 3. I remember how dissapointed so many of my friends were with that game. It was not the ultimate fps everyone had wished for. Gears of War is easily one of the best shooters I have ever played. As long as the second one doesn't do anything really extreme to ruin that, I think it will be as great of a sequel as we are all expecting. It might not be MGS4, but it is deffinitly the best my 360 will have to offer in 08.

The gameplay in Halo 3 has been honed to perfection. That is what sequels are for.

Oh my god. I point you to my previous post. One ingame of both Halo 2 and 3 . and one cutscene of Halo 2 and 3. Halo was certainly not graphically underwhelming. People who think that games where art direction is not pointing towards reality arent graphically good, are aloud their opinions. But personally playing Halo3 with 60 or more on screen characters and vehicles all with the same level of detail and no framerate drop is some of the best graphics Ive seen this gen. It's all very well that Gears had a massive 8 on screen characters.(I like the game but seriuosly) Bungie did an awesome job of Halo 3. It combined the best of Halo 1 and 2 and made it better. It's sales say everything. It has it's fans, I'm one.

Gow2 better have an amazing storyline at least 10 times bettter than Gow1 or Halo's if it is going to win me over. If there isn't a vast improvement in that area then GoW2 is going to be quite a disappointingly stangnant "upgrade".

Cliff seems to be doing that by hiring a novelist/comic book writer.

True, but I doubt they'll give him much creative freedom to write a truly compelling story considering that cliff dissed exactly the richly detailed narrative of MGS4. I'm expecting 2 minute cutscenes of melodrama interlaced with 1 minute `badass`action scenes.
