As we all know, Gears of War 2 will be a great game...so was Halo 3. In Halo 3, there were minor upgrades from Halo 2, i.e. graphics, few new weapons, few new maps with old ones redone, but the storyline was the same. Gears of War 2 is going down the same path as Halo 3 with the few new maps, with the remake of a couple of others, graphics pretty much stayed the same, but with better gradients, and the multiplayer only went from 8 to 10 players maximum. The game will sell a tremendous amout of software, only because its it will be over-hyped. Hell, I'm going to buy it myself, just because I like the franchise. To some things up...

Gears of War 2 will do the same thing as Halo 3 with its precessor

First, Halo3 is not a Gears predecessor. Completely different companies, completely different universes, completely different gameplay styles, completely different genre.

Second, Gears' would be a TERRIBLE game with sixteen or twenty-four players. It is the kind of game that just works better with fewer people. Adding one more person to each side increases tactical opportunities while maintaining the feel that each team member is vital. Games like Resistance are great, but when you have a twenty-man team, no one feels like they're all that consequential, individually.

Third, they are addressing ALL of the complaints of the first game--longer campaign with a bigger emphasis on story, party system, a lot more multiplayer modes, they're fixing all the glitches and exploits people didn't like (no more diving at me with the shotgun, bitches!), and there's supposedly some new feature that's so godly they're not even allowed to talk about it until E3.

The above means that it is ABSOLUTELY not going to be 'over'-hyped, no matter how much they hype it. For many (myself included), Gears 1 is the game that marked the true opening of this generation, and it's still in the top three or four, graphically, a couple of years after its' release. I need not even mention the fact that it's being made by a developer who has never--EVER--made a bad game. They also said they're pretty much in the fine-tuning stage now, meaning they have four months to devote just to polish.

So... yeah.

I WAS USED HALO 3 AS A REFERENCE!!...I could say the same thing about killzone 1 and 2 or Little Big Planet 1 or 2 (if 2 exist) If that was the case. What I was saying is how Halo 3 was hyped up sooo much, and come to find out that it was pretty much the same game as Halo 3. And to the guy who said "halo 2 was on Xbox, not Halo 3" you just played yourself because I would be upset that a game from last gen was the same as this gen.

I don't know if your post is a compliment or trying to be an insult...

i was thinking the same thing. LOL

Gears 2 will still be miles better than Halo 3. Gears of War is/was one of the best games on the 360 to this day, while Halo was instantly overshadowed by COD4.

That being said it really doesn't look like that much of a jump. I still think the game will be hella fun and will surprise a lot of people, including myself.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Look at the last word of the post I quoted.  I believe "precessor" was a mispelling of 'predecessor', no?

Also, I like how you didn't try to rebutt any of my points, instead comparing the Halo games, which have nothing to do with the Gears games.

Duhh!!! Of course it will be a great game, but you are not getting my point, I dont care about Halo 3 vs Gears 2, I was talking about the games and their prequels...and I used Halo 3 as a reference because of what happened (hype)

the jump from halo 2 to halo 3 was not very impressive..... If you were comparing something at least say Halo 1 to Halo 3 then at least that would be a good jump.

Some could argue that the jump from Halo 2 to 3 was a big one while others will disagree. Theres too many opinions on that part of the topic to have any real discussion on whether or not Gears 2 will be an upgrade.
