I LOVE FPS. Best way to compete with other gamers around the globe. As long as Halo3 sells more than 8 million times or Gears of War (I know, 3rd person, but still more or less same genre) sells 5.5 million times, or CoD4 like 10 million times for PS3 and 360 combined, people just don't get bored of it.

by the way, could we say it is like this:

America --> FPS

Japan --> RPGs

Europe --> Sports

???

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I don't think FPS games will ever decline in popularity.. they are really easy to play and have been one of the dominant game genres since the early 1990s

Platformers have been dead and gone away. Mario is like... the exception to the rule. They've been killed since like... the PS1.

This is true, the FPS genre won't decline. However, I believe there is one sub-genre that will be more popular than FPS or any other genre: MMORPGs (it has already taken over Asia).
