As long as it passes the GBA (81 million). The DS is quite possibly one of the top 3 games system (game anything!) of all time. It's the spiritual portable SNES. Heck, even the canceled Starfox 2 games from the SNES found it's way onto the DS.

Well, it is guaranteed that Ds/l will break 100 million barrier at some point.
Maybe even before fiscal Q1 starts for Nintendo next year.

'05 it sold about 11 million units

'06 it sold about 21,38 million units
(DS Lite was released on March 2, 2006 in Japan)
(At the beginning of the June 06 Ds/l had sold 5,43 million units of '06 total)

'07 it sold about 29,11 million units
(At the beginning of the June '07 Ds/l had sold 8,73 million units of '07 total)

At the beginning of June '08 Ds/l has sold 8,83 million units so far at this year.

So Dsl has about 19-22 mil. units still to be sold this year.

AS for slowing sales in Japan it's due to oversaturation of the market. Simple fix is a new model or version, like the DS Lite was.
