Yeah AA is a must. It's a pity it's software drivin though, as it takes more data crunching that way.

That was a confusing post, but yes...most modern console games employ AA of some sort...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Both Ratchet and Uncharted use 2xAA, and having higher AA makes a big difference then having none.

What is anti aliasing?

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Are you actually serious?  You ussually seem technically aware enough that I would assume you know this.

@OP, games do not need AA to look good, but generally most games should aim for at least X2 AA to try and give the human eye the impression of smoother images (IMO, Ratchet and Clank did not need AA at all).

all AA is software driven... you dont jsut throw in a GPU and say "give me AA now!" and it magically put AA in all your games...

Pixels adjacent to one another are blended. You know the jagged lines at the edge of objects as smooth surfaces are converted to square pixels ("jaggies")? Anti-aliasing removes those. It drastically increases image quality at the expense of graphics processing power.

@ben kenobi
i just wanted to know whether the two games in the first post have anti aliasing and if everyone feels it should be present in games on ps3?

Nice! ^
