Forums - Sony - CliffyB loves MGS4: Best cut scenes in the industry

I know I'm not the first one to ask this but.. Didn't he just criticize MGS4 for being passive entertainment?

Anyway does this means he just likes the cutscenes?

Calling it 'passive entertainment' was not an insult. Otherwise, all movies ever made would be insulting. He was only saying that it's not the type of game that THEY are doing. Also, he's apparently played and enjoyed four out of the six main MGS games. Gears is simply not the same type of game.

What about when he said that Kojima's form of entertainment was "on its way out" as far as computer games were concerned?

Who doesn't. I LOVE Metal Gear Solid 4!!!

After the whole "passive entertainment" thing, i've lost all respect for that guy and epic games. He's probably saying this because some people looked at his remarks negatively and they were worried that would effect sales.

4 ≈ One

Rationalization to the rescue!

FYI - according the interview he never said he loves the game, and he even implied he didn't play it. Here are some more quotes from the same interview:

My personal preference as a gamer though is shorter cutscenes.

I've played through all the games on the NES and MGS 1 and 2.

Putting "CliffyB loves MGS4" in the title is an outright lie.  He never says it, he says other players do, and he says that he personally doesn't like the long cut scenes and that he played MGS 1 and 2, implying not 3 or 4.
