I'd actually disagree with you on FF1 - the original NES version, and not the dumbed-down re-releases. It's actually the only game of the series that I really enjoyed, mostly because of its high difficulty level.

I only played the two SNES FF games, 3 us (VI Japan), and the side story on the SNES, Mystic Quest. They were both good. I also had FF Crystal Chronicles, and if it were online it would have been good. Just didnt do it for me. Little chibi kids kinda turned me away from it.

well... If by so good you mean back then.. I feel they're slipping. Starting with the FFXII thing..

I don't know but mainly people just love playing RPGs that take a long time to get old for example like FF9 and FFX. :D

FF10-great story, decent battle system, solid characters
FF12-the story was interesting for the first 10 hours but becomes meh, main characters other than Bathier are kind of boring, the gameplay saves the game from becoming a complete disappointment.

The battle system of IX is way too slow. The battle system is too spimpel with no depth, and the Limit Breaks are the worst of the series.
