Forums - Sales - European Charts - w/e June 16th (Forza = -34% drop)

 From NeoGAF
18/Jun/2007

Microsoft’s ‘Forza Motorsport 2’ retains pole position in the All Formats chart for a second week with ‘Tomb Raider: Anniversary’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ both stuck at Nos 2 and 3 respectively with only 183 sales separating them.

Sales of ‘Forza Motorsport 2’ are down 34% on its launch week, but competitor ‘Colin McRae: Dirt’ from Codemasters cannot beat it, debuting at No4 and selling just over half of Forza’s total on Xbox 360 this week. Nintendo remain the largest represented company in the All Formats Top 10 with 3 titles – ‘Wii Play’ holding on to No5, ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training’ jumping from No8 to No6, and ‘Mario Strikers Charged Football’ slipping 3 places to No9. There is only one other new release to make the All Formats Top 40 – Take 2’s multi-format ‘Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ entering at No8 behind another comic book film tie-in ‘Spider-Man 3’, dropping this week from No4 to No7.

Competitive pricing pushes EA’s ‘Medal of Honor: Vanguard’ back into the Top 40 at No18, while ‘The History Channel: Great Battles of Rome’ from Black Bean manages to break into the Top 40 in its second week, at No34.

A -34% drop is fairly good, considering it was the 4th highest-selling game of the year thus far. In the US/Japan, a 40% drop is considered pretty good, and -34% is Nintendo-like levels. This should bode well for the franchise in Europe. If it keeps up like this, it'll easily pass the 1m w/w mark within another week. Mario Strikers also is pretty decent on the list.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

You do realize that a -34% drop means an increase of 34%

Ah, double negative. Either way, its a -34% week over week.

Forza 2 sells well here in Sweden too, it is normally on top of the charts you see on the retailers shelves

Ahh, Ireland, Finland, and apparently Sweden. Can the world be that far behind? Maybe, where is the first chart from again, UK, Europe, or somewhere in between?

The First chart is UK, all formats and prices chart. That includes all budget games, and combined totals for every game.

IE, Forza 2 on 360 is outselling POTC3 on every format published and combined.

Second chart is Ireland, third is Finland.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

34% is within normal 'big game' sales drop levels... so you would expect or want it to be at this level I would think.

Give her another 34% next week.

A 34% drop is typical? Since when?
