I have one of the best HDTV's you could possibly get.  I have a Sony Wega XBR 36" CRT that does 480i, 480P, 720P and 1080i so I'm more then covered in that area. It has a few Component inputs and 1 DVI input, so no issue's there.

Yes a CRT is way better then an LCD or Plasma for picture quality. ;)

My MB wouldn't allow me to OC my CPU at all (ASUS A8N-E) I currently have 2GB of ram. Most PC's come with 4GB now... so I fear I'll soon fall way behind the tech curve. Everytime I'd try to boost the cpu speed my system would crash right away.... it's been awhile since I last tried though.

 

I still think your CPU is still good enough-it's doubtful future games will be so CPU intensive that it starts requiring quad cores. At least not in the near future. My CPU for instance is just a Allendale Core 2 Duo which I'm certain can handle future games.

Still, if you need a laptop for non-gaming purposes, then that's probably the best bet.

The house is pretty awesome, my last house was about 1100 SF, the new house is 2530 SF.  It's fully wired for all my entertainment stuff and I've got a couple fireplaces and what not on the way.

Ya, I kinda think the 360 is the least likely purchase due to me being able to play all of it's best games on the PC with free online.  I'm also not a big fan of dealing with customer service people when something breaks and it has a pretty bad track record.  (I do however love my modded for multimedia XBMC XBox though)

I really wish that the 6 cell batteries were standard for the new Atom mini laptops.  I'm kinda not sure what to do about a laptop because of that issue.  I'm also in Canada so if you know of a good deal for around 500$ please let me know.
