Forums - General - Which consumer counter-inflation measure do you prefer?

Options off the top of my head feel free to add your own options, but within the context that inflation must happen:

1. Same price, less quantity (ie. You pay the current price of your 1L bottle of soda, but only get 900ml);

2. Same quantity, higher price (ie. Instead of paying 1$ per liter of soda, you now pay 1.10$ per liter);

3. Same price, less quality (ie. You pay the same price for the same quantity, but it tastes a little different, not bad, just different)

4. Same price, same quantity, same quality, but the people who are involved in getting the product to you (employees of the producers, transporters, retailers) have a MUCH lower quality of life then what is normal for where they live.

for soda makers I choose 4, as I really don't buy any so obviously I don't support their jobs anyways.

My real answer - It depends on the situation. For example, If I go to a restaurant and order a meal, there is typically way to much food for 1 normal dinner, so I would prefer option 1.

However, for a loaf of bread, I eat the whole thing anyways, and I would rather have option 2, since I don't want to take extra trips to the store because there are 2 slices less per loaf.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Consiously 3. Subconsiously. Probably 4.

If rapid inflation were to start springing up on like every product yet my product stayed the same price i'd likely keep buying it not even thinking about how or why it is inflation proof.

Which probably is a bit of a problem. Either way though in order consiously i'd go

3,1,2,4. Since 2 really messes with the budget.

none of the above

just take what you want and give nothing back
