Forums - Gaming - Square-Enix's E3 lineup (Chrono Trigger PLAYABLE!)

Chrono Trigger big? Dude, research the past sale numbers for that game and realize that CT is only big among the internet and not the general public. And the PS1 port of that game from Square was less than impressive. Officially not interested.

Last Remnant looks like ass and has a crappy development team. Star Ocean is too early to tell but if it's anything like that crap known as SO3 I give that a massive DO NOT WANT.

Infinite Undiscovery does look mildly interesting but as I don't own a 360 I will need to research that game more to see if it's worth investing in. I can see me just renting a 360, playing it, taking it back unless it's awesome enough for me to want to keep it. At which point I will buy a 360 but it will need to be Valkyrie Profile franchise standard for me to do that.

 hold on a moment

I never said BIG, i said BIG QUALITY. And crono trigger is considered TOP quality by many, including reviewers. Last remnant is your opinion, im highly interested in the gameplay, and the story sounds really interesting.

Star ocean 3 is one of my favorite rpgs in terms of gameplay, ive played through it at least 3 times, and ive yet to beat FF 12.... and if FF is anything like 12 it can kiss my ass. See thats my opinions.

How many of those 2.6mil where Japan sales?

 almost 2 million.

WHich makes me curious as to why they brought a game that is not very popular among the states like crono trigger here and not the KH game or FF?

E3 is largely aimed at the western audience. Of course Japan matters, just not so much at this event. If Japan was the focus S-E's lineup wouldn't suck so much ass.

Case in point for CT though, largely not important in the west.

And where do you think they would want to get the western audience more interested? E3 of course. If the japanese are more interested in the game, then you will have to target your weak regions and E3 would be the best place.

Maybe they think that the DS can crack the US/EU market with the game for them. Unlikely but worth a shot I suppose.

No FF, KH or DQ because clearly S-E are sending in their second rate games to E3 and saving their best stuff for their own event.

Star Ocean, Infinite Undiscovery, and The Last Remnant are second-rate?  If you want second rate, look at Haze and Lair.  Those games aren't even out yet.  Chrono Trigger is very popular.  Sales numbers are not good indication of a older game's popularity since most of CT's current fanbase got into it through emulation.  Another example is Earthbound.  That game flopped here when it came out in the US but now the game has developed a strong cult following.

He is one of those people that will play FF but will avoid other JRPGs

I think SE is reserving to show off FFXIII and DQIX at this years TGS. This is where I think they will finally show us DQVI remake and maybe announce a 3D remake of FFV ala FFIII and IV.

DQIX is almost a guaranteed 2009 release now and I am def look forward to Chrono Trigger DS.

I wouldn't put it past SE to show FF13 at TGS and FFv13 at SE gamers day just to not let them get in the way of each other and give them their own moments in the sun. Of course with that logic I don't know what they would do with DQ9, probably TGS. If they do that, then FFv13 at TGS since it isn't the in the main FF line and let the main FF be shown off at SE gamers day. Just trying to spread out the love for their big games so they don't step on each others toes as they are displayed.
