That looks better than the wiimote. IF it is big enough. :)

Wow, another level of hipocrasy, and look at your sig. I'll keep this on topic by not busting you out anymore, but it seems like you brought up Nintendo before I did. Desperation, plain and simple. If this is real, you can spin it how you want, the interent is gonna have a field day, and I suggeat you take an internet vacation.

That said, imo, any motion control Wii ripoff from Microsoft is pure desperation, plain and simple. They are worried about decreasing sales, and want to take advantage of Nintendo's success with their excellent and inventive console....oh wait, I was actually on topic the whole time, wasn't I?

Now you are getting just weird. What my sig has to do with this? Desperation? Am I somehow desperate? :D You can stop there. Why wouldn't I like a better version of the wiimote on 360? :) Or what was your point.

I doubt microsoft is that much desperate either, they just want their piece of the casual cake. Don't know are they going to get any, not that I should care about that.

The way I see it is perfect sense for M$ and for their consumers. Add this functionality that is obviously a hot topic and a hit with casuals and then also provide the hardcore audience with games they will enjoy. The best of both worlds. Not sure how this is desperation. They are making a profit and riding the wave of success. 360 is fine for the rest of this generation no matter how you try to spin it.

I think it said in the article that it wasn't geared toward the hardcore gamer, but we'll see.

I wasn't speaking about games using the motion controller.  I was saying that they are still offering the same games they would have had they not developed a motion controller.  Motion controlling games are just an extra.

Ok guys, for the 10th time -

Two reasons why the "Newton", if it truly does/will exist, will look and operate nothing like the Wii controller.

1 - Nintendo's patent on the Wii Remote states their ownership to a device that operates using bluetooth and accelerometers, housed in a remote control style device. This doesn't deny MS or anyone else of using bluetooth or accelerometers, but it does prevent them from using anything that resembles a remote control shaped device to house it in.

2 - XB360 already has a set amount of buttons for their games (8 if I recall?). Their controller, unable to look like a remote control, is likely going to require a more oval or rectangular shape to fit all the buttons, giving it more of a Sixaxis feel/look

wow, first day purchase for me if they aim to use it at hardcore games - may finally get a decent FPS with motion sensors.

Several games, not every game. It will die, especially if its exactly the same

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Show me where you find the actual copyright / licensing details for Nintendo's wiimote. I want to see exactly what they 'own'.
