i am having a very hard time understanding the ending of this game. was it really fredrick's dream? what was so special about polka? why did the agogos glow around her? why did she end up killing herself? more importantly, why is it that when she should have split her skull in half and rotted eternally in her own blood, that she magically got lifted back up and sent to her childhood? why did fredrick turn on everybody in the end? what the hell dude. i even heard that fredrick killed himself for polka. i dont understand this game, but i really want to.

anybody know what the deal is?

The game is a big mess as far as story....I finish it watch the ending (45mins long of character exposition that make even less sense).

My take is the world is extension of Chopin dream. His dark side is what cause the evil in the world I think or something like that. So in the end the group has to fight him to end it. Not sure what's up with Polka ....

 Thats pretty much my guess. The ending is really screwed up. But then the games story is on the wierd side from the off.

My opinion (I think kn has a better idea, as he has an IQ high enough to put the story together):

The entire gameworld was Fredricks dream, and he knew it all along. However, going through the entire dream, and seeing all of the things that happened, he decided to stay in the dreamworld. I think he fought the party (imo) to prove that it was a dreamworld, and to stay in the dream world forever (hence Eternal Sonata).

No idea why Polka jumped - maybe it was to get Chopin to save her since he was acting odd?

Trust me, your not the only one that was confused - My girlfriend played the entire game all the way through with me (and she's beaten DQVIII, KH1/2, LO and plenty of other story-driven games) and couldn't get the storyline either.

We ended up making up our own ending to Eternal Sonata, since the game obviously tanked at the end.

I heard in x-play that it was all in his dream.... You know, because fredrick is DYING.
