Nope. The upper-level of sales for Gears 2 would be around 9m copies (again, best case). Halo 3 will sell for a year or two to come, and will easily hit 10m at some point in the future.

Yeah I don't see it happening. Regardless of how good the game is the Halo IP just creates more buzz than GeOW. GeOW 2 will be a great game but I agree with mrstickball, 9 million LTD is the max it prolly won't hit it. Halo 3 will prolly reach over 10 million.

no gears is not big enough to take down halo 3, halo appeals to more peaple than gears of war even though gears of war looks way better than halo 3

9 million lifetime? What's the rationale behind that? The Halo series only saw (and will probably only see) a growth of about 2 million sold between each game. People expect Gears of War 2 to grow over its predecessor by 3-4 million copies?!!

What are you guys thinking?!! It could probably sell 6 million, maybe even 7 million or more. But be realistic for god's sake!

It could be a close horse race. It could swing either way cause Gears 2 is being released to a larger instal base than Halo 3 did. There will probably be at most a 1 million sales difference.

8 million LTD for Gears of War 2. First week sales for Gears of War 2 will be around 2.5million sales. Americans will buy around 65% of the copies of Gears of War 2.
