The New York Times, oh how ye mighty have fallen.

It's no news that the New York Times is often vastly out of touch with the common man, however, what is of great interest is the recent trend of the once acclaimed periodical to claim outright lies, in order to appease their liberal agenda.

Most recently, us merry few in the videogame industry have seen their failings in the misappropriate citations from this very website(VGChartz.com), indicating that the Wii, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary, sells very little software. The article's assertion wasn't that the Wii doesn't sell "Third Party Software," which is a defendable assertion, but that the console overall sells less software then its competition, which is an outright and provable lie. If one were to read the article, they would believe the Wii was in dire circumstances, again laughable.

A recent episode of The O'reilly Factor(a program that I watch along with many liberal primetime news shows in order to get a fair and balanced perspective on a plethora of subjects) informed me of what I can only describe as the latest affront to public perception, and an insult to even minded individuals everywhere.

http://tvdecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/28/fox-news-ratings-show-erosion/

On June the 28th, the NYT reported that the Fox News Channel was in a, morbidly worded, "ominous" ratings trend. As inflamatory and incorrect as the article was(like the Wii article, an obivous hit piece, as Fox News is literally dominating the ratings, and their YoY numbers are actually up, ominous indeed), what was even more appauling was the NYT's hypocritical behavior immediately afterwards.

When the Fox morning news show, "Fox and Friends" had the audacity to defend itself from the defamation, they used what we refer to as a charactiture of the article's author, as reported by the left leaning and NYT sympathetic Huffington Post:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/02/fox-news-photoshops-pictu_n_110486.html

How dare Fox News have the audacity to defend itself from untrue alligations, in such a mocking and divisive manner.

However, what is, in this author's opinion, one of the most hypocritical turns in recent memory, the New York Times, and other dedicated far left orginazations have begun to raise what amounts to a "stink" over this photo, claiming it is unprofessional journalism.

As laughable as it is that the New York Times is accusing someone else of unprofessional journalism, it has been pointed out by many that the New York Times itself often uses charactitures of figures they don't like very much, and none of them are flattering. For instance, this was drawn up for the release of the book Culture Warrior as a charactitures of its author Bill O'reilly as pointed out by the man himself, regarding this very situation.

Not to mention that the morning show "Fox and Friends" is a commentary based television program dealing mostly with humor and the "starting your day" theme, like previous shows in the genre akin to Regis and Kathie Lee.

Attack campaigns, even on those you hate, are wrong when your attack consists of outright misinformation. It's sad that a once great periodical like The New York Times has now been reduced to mere far left fanboys, in their partnership with never great hate-sites like The Huffington Post, and MoveOn.org, amongst whom their greatest claims to fame have been calling American generals liars, and cheering the deaths, injuries, or cancers of right leaning figures like Nancy Regan, Tony Snow, and Charlton Heston.

Congratulations, New York Times, your consistantly shoddy work, partison bias, hypocrisy, and viscious slander have actually succeeded in making the United States a worse place to live. You've destroyed your own credibility in an attempt to discredit your enemies, and at a glance, no human being should take the word of anything written in your "News" paper as the truth, ever again.

Doesn't matter. Lies and hypocrasy from the NYT is a common trend, and it doesn't matter if they're attacking Hitler, it still totally destroys any credibility their newspaper once had. All you have to do it take a look at that Wii article to see how shoddy reporting has grown beyond the scope of their liberal bias, and is now pretty much a norm.

I doubt anyone here will actually defend the NYT, instead opting to flame Fox News, which is imo, completely missing the point of this article.

All news agencies are crap in many ways. Just because one is bias and writes crap articles does not mean they are better then a news station that reports crap news or has crap debates. There is really no difference.

lol, point taken. That said, I don't find, generally, that Fox is any more "crap" than CNN or MSNBC. I prefer, as you and I'm sure most fair minded American's do as well, to get the news and interpret it myself.

It's just sad that a Newspaper that was once the greatest in the world, and gave us quite a nice representation from all walks of life is now no better than any liberal blog we can pull up on google. It just struck me as particularly said, which is why I wrote this.

As for my opinion on the matter at hand: Fox News serves a userbase, just like CNN and MSNBC do. Fox News being far right, MSNBC being far left, and CNN being slighly left leaning middle ground. Unbiased news is impossible to find.

None of the outright lie, however the truth is often spun. That said, painting any network in broad strokes is generalizing, and generalizing is how people who decided something is too complex to understand, cope.

That said, I'm trying to cope with the NYT, but it's impossible. There are no redeamable qualities of the newspaper anymore, and I have cancelled my subscription. The publication is now dead to me, after its long bout with a liberal bullet wound.

Thanks friend, I know some will see this as simply right wing hate on the liberal agenda, however, there are still people out there that like to think for themselves, and things like this are pretty much like the guy on TV saying, "We can't do this all day, so call now" when he's trying to sell stuff. How stupid do they think I am? It insults me, and I'll no longer buy their products. I chalk the NYT up in that category. Even hardnosed liberals shouldn't buy into stuff like this.

It's equivelant to Sony fanboys touting the Sony Defense Force reviews as reasons why the PS3 is the best console.

All news stations (and quite a few magazines) are biased , but fox news is the most biased out of all of them.

I'm sorry, this topic made me so angry. Actually, I'm not sorry.
