Forums - Sony - Sony doesn't think rumble is last-gen anymore

How can rumble be last generation? You bring it to the second generation. It doesn't need to stay behind. It enhanced the games, didn't it? So bring it to the next generation. Don't leave it behind, and call it last generation, as a last minute excuse, because of their law suite. You don't throw away one good thing for another. No. You take both. It's logic. It's like replacing color on T.V. for sound. WTF? Why not have both?

This situation is no different than the PS1. They launch with a non-rumble controller then introduce the dual-shock. No difference really. As for there statments about Rumble being last gen...it is. If they do add some sort of force feedback, I would bet its much better than the old vibration feature. I personaly dont need nor care about rumble but it would be a cool feature to try if its an updated version. It would eventially get turned off though just as the dualshocks I have now do.

Big difference. When ps1 launched there was no rumble feature. Nintendo added it to the N64 and then Sony copied it and changed their controller for a third time to add the rumble. Now 2 gens later they state a bogus ass claim that no one wants rumble and to add it now is kinda a kick in the nuts to the 3.5 million PS3 users who probably have 2 or more controllers.

So now the bring a new controller. Drop the old and all of the current fans, probably the most loyal, are gonna be pissed off, unless they are just sheep and will take anything from Sony.

How many current PS3 games support rumble anyway? And recalls occur only when there are techical problems, not missed features.

Btw...the best last gen rumble was in PS2.

I actually dont like the rumble feature. It was a great feature 2 years ago, but with the advent of wireless controllers and battery life, I will stay away from it. It dednt do much for me anyway. Like I said it was cool at first, but you want to feel vibration in your hands...buy a vibrator.

Rumble is one of those things that doesn't take away from a game by not having it, but it definitely adds to the game by having it.

Hell, even when navigating the Wii menu and the control shakes when I move over a button is nice.

if it does one it must do the other.

otherwise a developer could make a perfect game by continuously adding/removing rumble =)

It's perfectly reasonable to say that not having rumble doesn't take away from the game (unless of course you have elements that requires rumble. It's just like saying not having online doesn't take away from a game but having online adds to it.

well if you add rumble to a game and it adds to it, removing rumble from said game would take away from it.

by the way, I was only half serious with my previous post, if you couldn't tell from the infinite loop of awesome I created.
