Forums - Sony - Sony doesn't think rumble is last-gen anymore

I think that they should do as Entroper says, as many people are already prety pissed off with Sony, anyway, do the SIXAXIS need to have new circuit boards put in, cause that would mean that they would prety much have to replace the whole controller, which is not economically viable seeing as they have sold probably over 5M controllers.
What i think they could do is offer a trade in deal with the controllers

I'm not sure whether I'm really desperate for rumble, I've hardly noticed the difference without it

some of you arenuts, recall of free trade ins lol. So should they do the same for a bigger hdd PS3 or one with smaller chips thus using less power ?

the only people whining about rumble are a xbots and wii fanboys, go on ps3 forums just about all really don't care about it enough to complain. If a controller comes with rumble they will just buy a second one, thats it.

I'am already on my 2nd controller (temper)

The people who've already bought a PS3 are likely to be loyal enough to sony not to mind having been given controllers without rumble imo.

This really isn't about current PS3 fans though.  This is about your so-called "x-bots" and "wii fanboys."  If Sony puts in rumble and convinces more non-PS3 owners that it's worth it, that's a few more PS3s off the shelves.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

TBH, like previous people have said, rumble isn't anywhere as big as deal as HDMI, so it's not as bad as Microsoft IMO. Also, I think they'll just phase out the non rumble controllers, although if thse rumble ones do come along, then we'll probably but them so we can play 4-player games.

WHAT!?   How could you possibly come to that conclusion?

You do realize that component can and DOES output 1080p/60 on the 360 right?  the only dff is that HDMI sends the audio signal too.  And if you knew anything about HDMI you would know that it has compatibility issues w/ a lot of receivers which screw up the passthrough.  Theres ZERO advantage HDMI if your tv accepts 1080p over component (as almost all new tvs that include HDMI do).  And dont even try to tell me it's digital so theres no signal loss.  There's ZERO Error Correction in the standard.  The only diff and only REASON it's digital is for extra copyright protection.

Rumble on the other hand is VERY perceptible and changes the game experience.

I am glad there's a Sixaxis available without it, I greatly dislike the vibration implementation in many games. While firing a gun it does add to the experience for me, but when hit it often a distraction or when dying pretty unrealistic. IMO rumble was overused IMO to unrealistic and distracting proportions for many games. I don't want my mouse to shake on my PC

You realize there was a button right on the PS2 controller to turn rumble off.  Having it as an option is better than not having it.    Youre just making excuses for Sony screwing over its customers, trying buy time to pilfer Immersions IP.

You don't even know MikeB, it is possible for someone to just not care for rumble...

That's not my point....   My point is that even if it included rumble and motion sensing from the launch, he wouldnt HAVE to use rumble....  BUT he would always have the OPTION to if he wanted.   The fact that Sony spouted all that B.S. about "Rumble is not Next-Gen" and people just brush it off, like "hey, no big deal"....     Frankly, it baffles me.  There was a gamestop interview w/ Jack Tretton.  There's a video of it somewhere i'd have to find, where Tretton admits they willfully deceived early adopters, knowing they would settle and include it later even if they lost.
