Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Faces Patent Lawsuit, Apparently Over DS Touch Screen

I kind of feels sad for the guy; he probably had that idea for a while but sat on it... that's the colateral damage of innovation I guess.

Nintendo should hire thugs and send them to beat the crap out of patent trolls. I would do that.

Patents need to stop, unless its for a complete product, not just a mechanism inside of a product. You should be able to design and patent a sixaxis or wii remote, but not the individual parts inside of it.

My guess is that the person has no idea that the product predated his patent.
He probably is out for the quick buck. I can't see him winning this. It does point out to problems with IP rights, however.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

If he win this case and he rewarded with more than 50 million dollars Nintendo might aswell halt their business in North america, I really meant it. Since many so called patent trolls will follow suit make quick buck out of Ninty.

There are more regions and countries Ninty can have a huge cash anyway, like China, South korea and taiwan. In fact, Nintendo is doing it right now...

And with the dwindling dollar Nintendo cant make out of profit in North america like they expected anyway...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

Many people would not agree with this, but one of the easiest ways to limit patent trolling is to create a (reasonably) high fee to file a patent which is used to pay for the patent review process. Hypothetically speaking, if you had to spend $10,000 to file a patent and this covered the work that was necessary to see that no similar patents existed (and there wasn't any prior art) about 90% of these lawsuits would be eliminated ...

...oh my

VAio, you always post such positive threads, lol.

Patents in America are already quite expensive...
