Forums - Gaming - Your 1st videogame system and do you still enjoy games as much as before?

When I was 8 or so, my neighbours used to have a NES... from the first day they showed it to me, I visited them every day, just to play some Super Mario Bros.

A year or so later I saw a Gameboy lying between some old rubbish my dad collected to throw it away... I took the Gameboy (with Tetirs in it) out of the rubbish and turned it on. It was working!

Somehow I lost it two months later, but I´m sure it is still lying around in my parents house. I still remember the great hours i had when I played Tetris and Super Mario Bros. but I somehow lost the interest in Videogames cuz they were not that popular in Europe and if you were not into it, you never saw any advertisments in TV or so. Till this day in 1996, when I watched a N64 ad in TV and actually saw my favourite plumber (guess who?) running around in 3D.

I let my Coke fall (yes, I drank Coke, goddamm I still remember the advertisment from start to end) and decided to buy one. there was no money left in my pocket, so I got it on christmas... yeah, since then I´m again totally into videogames. Of course I rent a SNES when my interest was back but I never owned one myself...

Today I think videogames are not as fun anymore as they used to be back then. With the NES everything was new. When I bought my N64 3D graphics were completely new. From Super Mario Bros to Super Mario 64, everything felt new and fresh, Zelda Ocarina of Time was a Revolution, after playing it I bought a PS because people said FF7 was just as good as OoT. It wasn´t to me, but it still was awesome. I bought a PS2 and a Cube, but I realized the games there were not different from their N64/PSX counterparts. They just had better graphics. From 2003 to 2005 I just bought 2 games, Final Fantasy X and Zelda the Wind Waker and was dissapointed with both of them (just a bit, though) so I decided to quit gaming.

Then in 2005 I saw an DS advertisment. "What? Touchscreen?" I thought? THen I somehow went to buy one, and well, I liked it and still like it today. Same goes for Wii. I entered websites again, of course (well I was a gamer, right? Once a gamer, always a gamer) and became interested in the Wii. On December 8th 2006 I bought one.

Now I´m here, waiting for more. Ps3 and 360 do not interest me, they are too much of the same things I played in the past.

So, come on Nintendo, show me more hits and convince this once and current gamer, videogames never lost their magic. I´m more than willing to play some more.

 Was the plumber Mario? :o

I didn't live to play a lot of video games but for some reason I can understand what you mean about how game isn't as fun as they used to be (without knowing why I do).

As for gaming experience, I played game since I was 3 or 4 year old. I don't remember what my first game was but as for the first console, it was NES, in 1995. (Yea, I know it was very late to still play NES but back then I lived in Vietnam and the country wasn't very advanced)

Most of the time afterward though, I went to arcade to play game.
