Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft confirms fantastic surprise for Xbox 360 at E3, possible 3D dashboard?

Also, I don't think MS would spend the kind of money required to create a 3D dashboard

If there were any advantages perhaps but I cannot find one. Even Home is no way to get things done fast. For that you have the XMB. If you want to navigate a number of options 2D is much more efficient. I doubt MS would be that stupid. A X-Mote is a good possibility or a home knockoff. Or something entirely new MS may not be the biggest innovator in their home world but they have been pretty innovative in bringing PC options to the 360.

But who the hell spends a lot of time on menus? The purpose of menus, as far as I'm concerned, is for them to get the hell out of my way as quickly as possible so that I can get to whatever I really want to do.

Another reason to just press a couple of buttons instead of first finding the right direction to the screen. While for example Wii sports is awesome and everybody even non-gamers understand the controls, having people who are new to the console navigate the menus before starting the game is very awkward. I suppose that gets better with time.

This is a pretty elaborate length to go to just to deal with their cluttered marketplace.

I know you are joking but if you call the 360 dashboard cluttered what would you call PS3 dashboard? A maze perhaps?

 Ps3 xmb > 360 dashboard.

PSN > marketplace

In the terms we are using here. which is finding your way.

LOL Nope not even close. I find Ps3 way to cluttered and PSN is not even close to marketplace

You know, if it's not their WiiTooMote as they say it's not, I don't see it being the dashboard thing. How "fantastic" can a damn new dashboard be? Hopefully it's some game.

That's EXACTLY how I feel about "Home"

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

yeah the only way I can see the dashboard actually getting better (and home or a copy of it is not an improvement but the opposite for me) would be a high quality voice recognition option, where I can call what I want.

i.e. I say: movie, clockwork orange

and it gets me strait to the download page of the movie.... but I highly doubt it's that
