Forums - Sony - 400 GB blu-ray disks.........maybe for games?

Some people here are insane, saying this could be used for massive content in games... Here's a piece of news for you - the quantity of levels, textures, characters etc. is not limited only by storage size. It's limited by development budget!

As a sound designer and a game composer, I think that having such a big space will lead to the official end of words on a screen. Every conversation in even the largest RPG could be live audio

I think they will use it in PS4 era.

I think 50 GB is enough for this gen.don't you think so?

I agree. Kind of. 400GB is a bit much, I can see us going over 50GB this gen though. But something like 400GB definitely sounds like something for PS4 in my opinion.

this is something nobody needs. Games do fit on a DVD, HD Movies fits on 25GB Blu, why the hell should I use a 400GB Blu?

Just because you have no imagination and cannot see the possibilities does not mean others can't as well.

Here is a quote for ya "Nobody will ever need more than 640 kB RAM [Bill Gates, 1983]"

I am talking about today, not tomorrow. TODAY: Nobody needs this.

Agreed.

Great avatar by the way.

nextgen then we can have GTA: Earth
