Forums - Microsoft - Wheres Mech Assault 3/Mech Warrior 5 (Xbox360)?!!?

The first one got 87% metacritic and the second one got 82% so its not a bad series. Its just that I adore the Mech Warrior series and I assume that Microsoft owns the game IPs for both the Mech Warrior and Mech Assault series.

It would be a cool game and a bit different from the other games sortof combining simulation and role playing with actiony/shooter type gameplay. I think if they do another one it'd be just another great experience provided on the Xbox360. It would be a cool online experience and all they have to do is nail a good single player game and WHAM! Another million+ seller right here.

Smith and tinker could make another, but didn't the series sell poorly? So why would they take the risk?

If it went back to real mech combat, and not the fast-paced crap, I'd enjoy it.

Pretty sure the dev who made them on the Xbox is kinda defunct or whatnot. Last game in it was on the DS if I remember and didn't do to well. I mean I guess there's no reason why it can't come out of the darkness on to the 360, but right now I don't know. Series seems to be dead.

I only ever played Mechwarrior 2 on PC. That title covered three different games. The first two were average, but Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries remains one of the best PC games I've ever played.

 Yeh Shadowrun was "meh" at best but I was really surprised when they didn't continue the Mechassault franchise. I was expecting it to be a launch title for the 360. Idk if any played it on here but I played Chromehounds with a few friends for a couple months and it was pretty fun.

 Microsoft owns FASAA Studios, the developers of Mechwarrior, but they were absorbed into "Microsoft game studios" or something...unlikely we'll see another one for a while.

It looks like Zipper (the makers of Socom) are the only non-defunct maker of this series. Jeez I think it has a curse or something. Problem is since they do PS3 exclusives it won't likely come on the PC :(

Bah!

But its anyones guess if they can find a worthy studio to do the game properly, I guess they might do it.

If you look at the crap that is "Chromehounds"...if thats the style of mechwarrior type game that gets released on a console...prolly best they don't bother...Mechwarrior 4 was good fun, and still is.
