It isn't an equal footing, it just punishes people for trying more games. Like I said earlier, under your system someone can have the exact same trophies as someone else, but because they have a new game with less than 100% they would be ranked lower. Not to mention it would be considerably more work because he would have to determine how many of the games are PS3, PSN, or expansions. As well as individually check how many trophies came from each expansion.
As you said "skills [are] what matter", but a team wouldn't take a player if they only showed up to two games. Even if they won both of them. So if anything, under your system we should force everyone to buy every game with trophies or they aren't allowed to compete. That would be the only truly equal playing field. But even then everyone has different amounts of free time to devote to gaming.
Of course that is ridiculous. Honestly your syetem seems like it would take a lot of the fun out of it. Why would you want to start a new game, earn a trophy, and then go down in ranking because now you have a game that only has 2% of the trophies?

You seem under the impression that trophies mean more than games themselves.
Well the forums it works on people play their games for fun, and the trophy league is just additional fun. People buy new games and drop in rank for a while, they play and have fun while watching themselves get climb back up the table.
Instead of fighting to keep that top position constantly by rushing to find new trophy support and earn more everyone can compete at their own prefered pace without being punished for it. With the system used here if you don't expand your library as fast as others your previous efforts lose meaning.
If someone has to wait a while to buy new games, they're gonna drop in rank as others get it sooner, what I suggested allows them to keep rank until they buy the game, then drop when they buy it until they earn more trophies, or if they don't like the game not be punished because of it. As it is those with very fewer amount of games just cannot compete.
What I suggested is much more fair, as well as user friendly on a personal level.
Look how wrong the chart is now, a guy in 36th earnt a platinum trophy, yet some guy who didn't work that hard on a game is in 9th. Just has more games full of easier to earn trophies pushing him much higher.

No I am under the impression this league should be fun. Dropping in rank just because I wanted to play more games doesn't sound fun. It doesn't even seem like the league will be that interesting because there are bound to be a few people with only a handful of games who will always sit at the top spots.
You really haven't addressed the issues people have brought up, you just keep saying it is more fair. For the third time, why should someone with three platinums be ranked higher than someone with the exact same three platinums plus a game with only 75% of the trophies? Not to mention the additional work of checking what games each person has, whether or not they have expansions, and checking what expansion trophies they might have. I assume he just looks at the thing which lists bronze, silver, gold, and platinum; then moves on to the next. Your way would probably increase the time it takes by an exorbitant amount, and that is with only a few games. In a year when there are more members and games that support trophies it could very well take a few days.
Do you have a link to one of these forums perhaps? I am curious if they actually go through all this work or if they just divide by thhe number of games and leave it at that.
Also who's to say the guy in 36th place worked harder than the one in 9th. I don't know what either of their trophies are, but the one in 9th could very well have 100% in a psn game. (imo both SSHD and Eden are harder to get 100% in than Uncharted).
As far as I'm concerned our current system works quite well. It does reward people for getting 100%. Someone who just goes after a bunch of easy bronze trophies could be underneath someone who actually gets 100%, but doesn't have as many games. It isn't perfect, but it is better than the previous system and better than yours.
