Forums - General - Who actually still has dial up?

My parents pay for 6mbps dl/712mb UL comcast. It is $40 a month. Oh and I'm interested in seeing what people in japan pay for their internet, and what speeds. I heard that they have speeds comparable to the fastest fios at the same price the U.S people pay for DSL.

Well, I live in a sort of suburb of Philadelphia.

We live 20 Minutes away from the city.

I live on a island and the closest city, MacDonalds, Theater or Walmart is a 1 hour drive away lol

What phone company do you have? Whichever phone company you have is the only DSL you could get. Unless you get dry loop which is very expensive.

Well, for downloading it is 3 Kbps.

For uploading, I have no idea. Probably not even 1 Kbps.

In South Korea there connection speed is 100 Mbps and that's considered normal

I have Verizon.

Whenever I check availability. It says "Our service is currently unavailabe at your phone numbers. We are continually expanding our area, so fill out the form for Future Notification."

It has been that way for months.

Well you should have a connection, and if not then you will never be able to get one unless you move closer to the um hub. YOu should be close enough though if you live in a suburb of philidelphia. Are you talking about FIOS or DSL"?

Both!

My mom does. She lives too far out of town, no other choice. Not a big deal to her anyways.

WRONG. There is always another choice.

Firstly, if you can get cable TV, you can get cable internet. And cable TV is available pretty stinking far out of the city.

And even if it's not, satellite internet is available anywhere in the world. All you need is a clear view of the sky in the direction the satellites are positioned.
