Yes you heard me, i think that the ps3 will sell over 2 million units in Others alone in the month of december

Ok here it goes

in 2001 the ps2 sold a total of 1,833,321 units in the month of december.

The ps3 has outsold the ps2 all year long in others.

ps3 total for this year in others at the moment is 2,717,595 the ps2 in 2001 for the same period is 1,720,879

so thats 2,717,595 vs 1,720,879

so if the trend is anything to go buy the ps3 should be selling around the 3mil mark in december 08

i have checked many years of the ps2 with the the same time frame as the ps3 and the data all points to the ps3 selling around 3 mill

What i did was this 5th jan 08 to last week of june 28th 08. and compared it to the ps2 with the same time frame from each year and the correlaion it has with the sales in december.

2001 ps2 jan to june 1,720,879 month of dec 1,833,321

2002 ps2 jan to june 2,236,327 month of dec 2,173,501

2003 ps2 jan to june 2,251,616 month of dec 2,182,023

believe it....

It'll sell over a million in Others ... but i can't see it breaking 2 million.

The Ps3 sold a total of 2028K WW last year during christmas. In Others, it sold 1066K

Wii sold 1406K in December last year in Others. It probably won't see more than 2000K this year, at the very max.

The X360 sold 667K in that period last year. I can't see it passing 750K this year.

This means that you expect Ps3 to outsell Wii60 during holiday seasons '08 in Others.

So far this year, it has had a 30% market share. It is unlikely to be above 35% market share before December.

Does this mean that you expect the Ps3 to have a 50% relative growth compared to Wii60 during holiday season?

That seems very odd to me.

As epinefridis suggests, your analysis overlooks software. Indeed, 2001 was one of the greatest years in gaming history. PS2 games released that year included GTA3, GT3, FF10 to name just a few. I don't think this years line up really compares.

I will go for 2 million in Others for December.
1.5 million in America.
1 million in Japan
Total = 4.5 million PS3's for December 2008.

yes but looking at the data you can conclude that the ps3 will sell around the 3mill mark, i was kinda shocked when i looked at the number myself but thats what the data is saying,

Plus everyone always says you pulling the numbers out you ass or something whenever you make a prediction but when faced with data they dont want to agree with it.

I would like for someone to try and disprove it, you cannot disagree that, thats what the data is saying

The DS last year didn't make 3 million. That's the DS! This is a totally insane prediction... it's ok looking at numbers and doing comparisons but you have to keep things in perspective or else you will end up like Crazzy.

Here are the figures from last December. (4 weeks ending December 29th)

This year I am in no doubt the numbers will be bigger.... the Wii will probably break 2 million, the X360 might break 1 million (more likely around 900k) The PS3 is likely to be around 1.5 million, but it might not even go over that.

I highly doubt the PS3 will even break 2 million, it is not going to break 3.
