Forums - Microsoft - Increased levels of RROD due to XBox Live

I want to conduct a study into the relationship between increased risk of RROD due to playing XBox Live. 8 of my friends own both a PS3 and XBox 360. 5 who do not play XBox 360 online have never had RROD. 3 who play XBox 360 online 2 out of 3 have had RROD. Weird huh? Well let me know.

i just want to know if this is an isolated case or if their is a correlation between RROD and playing live

What models did your friends have and when did they buy them?

I dont know about the models but 1 was a launch, a few around xmas

EDIT: I was mistaken.

Is there any chance that an online game is more demanding than a singleplayer game? I'm pretty sure there isn't :/

But it would increase heat i guess so, but i dont know i aint the manufacture so

Wireless chipsets produce heat. Heat obviously exaggerates RRoD, so going online increases the risk.

Since when does the 360 have a wireless chipset?

@OP: Maybe the ones who have Xbox Live play more than the other ones?

I didn't look it up. Since the Wii does, I assumed the more 'advanced' Xbox 360 would too. Apparently you're still using Ethernet though. Microsoft are cheap.

No, wireless is one of the things you lose when you "graduate" to the 360 :P
