I guess I shouldn't have expected much competition?

I'll just list mine:

Series 4 32" Brand New 2008 Sammy(LCD, was afraid of burin with plasma, obsessive-compulsive personality)

PS3/360

Sony C100 Box + Speakerline(G4 gadget of the year model)

So, while in theory you might technically "win" because of the larger set and what I assume is a more expensive speaker system, when your setting 4-8 feet away from my television on a 2000$ Lazy-Boy and a completely wireless sytem, setting atop a brand new 1400$ gametable, with a built customized(by me) ventilation system for your PS3 and 360...in a soundproof room, and wall ran interent cables to prevent packetloss via wireless connetion, all connected through a $80 multipurpose, ethernet ready 5k joule surge protector, to be quite honest with you, I wouldn't trade my setup for your, for a free Wii.

Now that's not to say that your setup is bad. Your hardware is actually better, albiet slightly(considering all my stuff is brand spanking new), than mine. However your actual setup, surrounding that hardware, leaves too many variables for me to easily believe that your gaming experience could actually be better, more reliable, more attractive, and as beautifully elegant and all-encompassing as mine is.

I mean, I took out a 20,000 dollar loan on my house to build the room that my gaming equipment sets in. I virtually have every game for the 360, and most games for the PS2, at hand, most of which I could never find the time to play.

Every piece of equipment I chose was maticuliously researched to find the ideal equiment for my:

A. Setting Range

B. Comfort

My TV is hooked up with a Wii, PS3, VCR, HDTV signal from Dish Network, that includes every purchasable channel(even locals), and a 200-1000 hour HD DVR.

My rig is also next to my setup, but I use my laptop for easy gamefaqs finding.

I have ran 2 16' long USB extnesion chords(male to female) which run under my carpet from the Xbox 360 to the middle of the room, so any USB connecting devices plug into the floor(like the DDR pad or GHII controller).

I also have several sham-wow cloths for cleaning and dusting, as well as a bottle of duster in the many storage shelves(for my games and devices) under my actual TVstand.

Finally, I have a 6" Colt Python rubber gripped .357 Magnum model and a deadbolt on my gaming room door for intruders. The gameroom seconds as a saferoom for protection during home invasion. It contains no windows and count em, 3 fire extinguishers, and a completely independant outside phone line.

It's the big one, cept handle is black and squirshie. Stash spot under lazy-boy, custom holster. I bought this model because of Resident Evil.

Despite it all, I don't own a digital camera. I just ordered one off ebay. Should be a few days before I can have the photos up.

Eh? you spent all that cash but still have a wack TV? I'm not Impressed just like my DE is not impressed with your Python. Ok that was a bit harsh but you know the 52 inch is the bomb. I got it because it was onsale for 2 gs at bestbuy. It was sold out everywhere around me so it had to be delivered. Also I do often sit as close as 4 feet from the screen and I do have wireless mose and keyboard. I am interested in the table you made I've been looking for a chair/table hybrid that I could use with the mouse and board but can't find anything that fits my situation at all.

TV's size importance is directly related to the viewing distance of that TV. Your TV will sacrafice a lot of picture quality in the corners if you set say, 6 feet away. The optimum viewing distance for your TV is about 11 or 12 feet. You'll see the edges of your Television turn grey, when you set quite that close. Also, the bigger the TV, the higher you should want your contrast ratio. In other words an expensive small TV will give you a better picture than a cheap large TV everytime. At 10,000:1 for a samsung, I'm maxing out the 32" size television. A few things you should know:

A. No samsung TV, ever, can be considered "wack."

B. Size isn't the only consideration for a videophile.

C. You should pick the correct size TV for the space your adding it too, not simply the largest one you can afford.

D. A 32" has a major advantage over a 42"+ at <11'. That is the fact that the human eye is unable to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. For games like Ninja Gaiden 2 that suffer major slowdown at 1080p, a 32"-42" running at 720 is actually preferrable.

Think of a gaming TV like a computer monitor. You want to consider many factors, like number of inputs, options, how close and what angle you'll be setting, and what tier of quality you want that monitor to be. My Sammy is actually also a very servicable computer monitor if I so chose, despite its considerable size.

E. The fact that most games don't run at 1080p, and on a 32" TV 1080p is indistinguishable, the 32" Sammy was not only the right size for single person viewing at close range, but also the most efficient choice pricewise for a television that had the features, contrast range, and blacklevels I wanted. Surprisingly, equivelant 42" contrast ratios for samsung can easily top 2k, with only the budget models in an accordably reasonable range. In other words, you sacrafice picture quality for size if you choose the budget model.

For isntance, I could have gotten the 07 budget 47" Sammy for about 50 dollars cheaper than I paid for my 32," god TV. Now would the average joe have been more impressed with the 47" at a glance? Yes. However, the invisible features and subtle distinctions, along with average viewing distance and average number of viewers this TV would have, made me decide to go for the smaller, high end model.

That said, I do say that all things considered you probably have a better TV than me, slighly. Afterall, there is something to be said for having a setup that is built for an audience. What you have is actually a home theatre that also plays games. When your creating a theatre, size matters more than picture quality.

As for my other purchases costing so much, they really didn't, they are just nice things. I might have mislead you when I said the room was strictly for gaming, that was never its original purpose. It actually added lots of value to my house and gave me a good workspace.

As for a table, shop nice. You want to consider a few things:

1. Height

2. Style

3. Heating solution

4. Storage Space(important)

One thing I noticed about your setup, is it appears you need a seperate apparatus to store your games, and controllers.

I prefer wood, with slidable glass cabinets, and cardboard of equivelant backing for cusomization. You want to run a CPU fans(or any cheap attackable fan you can get, I prefer ebay for this) to holes you've cut in the back of your cabinet. You'll want these fans to be hooked up to either a remote or(in my case) a clapper. This allows you to play your PS3 or 360 through glass without worrying about them overheating or RRoD. Don't forget to cut a venthood at the top(hot air rises)

All this said, I'm not really entering this conversation to brag. Having a 52" HDTV and a PS3 is a nice setup. I completely respect that. There are many configurations, however, for "best" gaming setup, and they are all very opinion based, so it's definately hard to compare one to another. My living room sports very fantastic 42" Toshiba Regza, which is a great affordable brand for the quality you recieve at the 42" models. However, for gaming, my backroom Sammy blows it away(and any other TV I've ever personally seen in action) in several areas.

All this said, the Wii was still my favorite console, and had it hooked up to my 29" Sanyo I bought from walmart 6 years ago for 150 bucks.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
