Sounds like a fun game, when is it released?

... and people wonder why Nintendo choose the friend-code system.

So that the online experience is lessened for millions of gamers in order to prevent a few stupid children from contacting pedophiles which can be done on a computer or other device capable of using internet anyways?

I just love how considerate Nintendo is.

First of "lessened" is a subjective term and (personally) I'm far happier to be able to play an online game without hearing from the 11 year old boy that found out it was fun to play with himself, or from the insecure racist who decides that everyone should hear about how much he hates other races ...

Beyond that, predators are on the internet and seek out places where children are and most parents did not grow up in an internet connected world and do not understand the dangers that it provides. It will take decades before the "Common Sense" protection of the internet truely become common.

Truly spoken like someon who doesn't own a 360 or play it online.

Those occurances are few and far between.  I get so angry when I hear that, because that doesn't happen all the time, or even half the time.  If you're playing a game of Halo 3, and every match you get someone like that, you're living under a bad tree.  I don't get that a lot.  And when I do, mute them.  A simple button press and you don't have to hear anything.  You can actually turn voice chat off for every game, so you never hear what anyone says.  Ever.

yeah its disturbing to have this happen but its definitely happening

I got this on PsN

Well, Nintendo doesn't really have the same amount of online games that the PS3 and 360 has, so yes, I do wonder about the Friend-code system.  I mean, they should not have the friend code system.  If people don't want that to happen, use the parental settings like on the PS3 and 360 instead of hurting millions of people who just want to play games, and not have a separate code for every single game to play online.  It's parent's jobs to make sure of what their kids are doing while online.  The same way that parents can have privacy settings on the computer is the same way it's on the PS360.  Ninty just made things over-complicated.

You have a point but I don't think Nintendo sees it take way.  While it's true it's the parents responsibility we all know a lot of parents are totally negligant when it comes to kids and entertainment.  They let their 8 yr olds watch R movies (at home), and play M games.    Nintendo feels they also have an obligation and want to take the burden off the (often ignorant) parents by making their system kid-friendly to begin with.

I don't understand why someone would defend not having voice chat. It's completely optional to use but at least it's there in case you ever do want to try it. I personally don't play Smash online anymore because I felt like I was playing against the computer since it's identical to the online matches.

First off, I do own and XBox and stopped using XBox live because of how often it occurs ... You can't really mute them either because in between their moronic converstations and pointless bashing they occasionally say something useful.

Unfortunatley they are there and will use any means they can.
As an older gamer in my 40s these people put the spotlight on everyone.
who knows who is who anywhere on the internet including this site.
I love gaming and talking about it on this site but I am aware the majority of users are younger people.
that is why I have my age up on my profile. how do you stop it i suppose it is up to everyone young and old to be vigilant.

you cannot stop people young and old from enjoying there pastimes be it gaming or blogging or whatever.

we live in the internet age and fortunatley the authorites are getting better at catching these people.

just my take on it as an adult with 2 kids who know there way around a computer much better than i ever will.

Nintendo is probably getting voice chat before or at the release of The Conduit. High Voltage has stated their serious interest in developing voice chat for the online multiplayer facet of their game. I doubt the Wii will stay silent much longer.
