My friend has The Sims 2 and she absolutly adores that game. She loves it way more than The Sims. But like, I think there is a newer version out? And if so, is it better than the second? How much is it? Would you suggest it? Her birthday is coming up and I'm trying to figure out what to get her.

The Sims 3 won't be out for a year, and to me it looks worse.

She has the PC version of TS2, right?

If so, see what expansions she has. You could get her one of the expansions she doesn't have. Seasons, Nightlife and Bon Voyage are all very good. There are seven in total, 8 soon. :P University and Pets are the worst.

If she has the console version of TS2, get her the PC version with the Seasons expansion.

Maybe she might like Viva Pinata. My girlfriend plays Sims 2 non-stop...and really enjoyed Viva Pinata.

I'm assuming she is playing on PC.

She's playing the PC version of The Sims 2.

To me, the only thing the Sims was good for was seeing how long people could survive in a room with 20 stoves, no bathrooms, no windows, and no doors. I turned it into a kind of self-serve concentration camp. Of course I have found that it is a bad idea to mention this when going for a psych evaluation.

I was actually planning on buying her Portal also. She doesn't play many video games, and when I brought her over to show her them, I had portal on my computer and she thought it was cool.

Well then like I said, you should get her one of the expansions she doesn't have.

There are seven, I'll rank them in order from best to worst (IMO)

1. Seasons

2. Nightlife

3. Bon Voyage

4. Open for Business

5. FreeTime

6. University

7. Pets (worst thing ever)

I recommend University, Seasons, Open for Bussiness, in that order. The others either aren't worth it for me or I haven't tried them.
