Forums - Gaming - Most recent gaming disappointment?

GTA IV.
Slow, clunky controls, incredibly poor AI, bad soundstrack. Nothing to do besides missions, the fun has been sucked right out of it, MC's are slow as hell, crash cam and other features annoy more than add.
Smaller than its predeccessor and shorter in most ways, exploring the city gains you nothing at all and locales/scenes are very unvaried and tedious in the long run.

I'd be inclined to agree wholeheartedly.

I don't think that the game is very good

GTA IV as well, but it's still a fairly fun game (although at times, it's only as fun as a second job).

I could probably list disappointing games all day, but I'll keep it short and sweet.

Oblivion
I don't think I need to explain why, but if anyone was a fan of TES preOblivion, they probably are not anymore.

I have a pretty good feeling that Fallout 3 will topple Oblivion from my list.

Halo 3, i thought it would be like from halo 1 to halo 2. I was wrong.

Like somebody else said Starfox Assault. It's not a recent game but one I recently played. I had already heard about how you could control Fox on the ground but I figured it wouldn't be that bad. It was.

Lost Winds. Slow, boring, control issues. I thought it would be somewhat interesting, but it turned out to be not very engaging. Couldn't get myself to keep playing the (supposedly) short game to end. Maybe I'll get there when I get bored with the other games. The wind gameplay is somewhat fun, but it just wasn't enough. The puzzles weren't very tricky. The controls are ok but when you move stones around your character is moved too and vice versa, which felt clumsy. I'm not going to buy the sequel.

Mass Effect-the story was good but the combat was horrible and the technical issues didn't help. I am in no hurry to try the PC version.

Is Oblivion really that bad? I am starting to think that the only reason why some fans have low hopes for Fallout 3 is because it is different from Fallout 1 & 2. I never played them so I wouldn't know how some of you feel. I think Fallout 3 is looking pretty good.

Another recent disappointment is the lack of consoles GTA IV pushed.

Battalion Wars. I had heard really great things about this game, and I found it NEW in the box for $10, so I picked it up. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a half-assed RTS with severe issues in control, friendly AI, and interface, and it couldn't quite pull off the cartoony feel it was going for either.

+1. Though I've only played BW2, I feel the exact same way.

I'd say Team Fortress 2. The art style is simply great and how they make each character class have a personality is a feat few games succeed at. The maps have a certain feel that is just oozing style, which I think is fantastic. However this game fails as the gameplay is a more or less carbon copy of team fortress classic but each class feels weaker. There are no new classes and each class now feels gimped to the point where you are severly limited in what you can and cannot do. I guess with the hype surrounding this game's release I was expecting much, much more. The good news is the rest of the orange box is an unparalleled experience.

I guess if i had gone into it wanting only a graphical/stylistic update along with gameplay tweaks and modifications this would be fantastic. I personally thought (wishful thinking, i guess) they would overhaul the classes and their abilities to make the gameplay fresh and entertaining. I was wrong.

So, you're in no hurry to try the version that has redone the interface, revamped the controls to be easier and more intuitive, and apparently fixed a majority of the technical issues?

Makes perfect sense.
