Forums - PC Discussion - questions about world of warcraft

im currently trying the free trail, and so far i like it.

i made a few characters just to try out the different classes in the game and as of right now im kind of settling in with a human mage.

if i buy the full game...

can i make more than 1 character per account?

i might change my computer so will it let me install the game onto my other computer or will i have to purchase another key?

i see youtube vids with titles saying either a fire mage or an ice mage, as of now i use both spells so will i have to choose later on when i am a higher level?

also i see other classes have a special technique for example druids can morph, warlocks can summon, and hunters can track the enemies around them. so do mages have anything special like this or is it just straight up powerful attacks?

what classes would you recommend besides mage that would use far attacks. thanks

hmm...

i only recently got into WoW too so i dont know much

but i DO know u can create more than one character
per account. (i have 4 for ex)

And about the whole fire/ ice mage thing:

From what i understand, you can use both types of
spells in the begining but as you start progressing into
the game you either concentrate on fire (offensive)
or ice (defensive)--most ppl pick the fire one, but there
is a big need for ice mages as well since there isnt many.

And make sure you make a Priest and level him/her up
well b/c they are invaluable to quests with friends.

thats all i know
hope i helped man

With 1 account you can make as many characters you want, on as many servers you want.

You can access your account on any PC, as long as the game is already installed.

every class has it's own specific features. Mage has strong spells that do damage on an area, has a couple strong self-protection spells, he can teleport himself a few feet away, he can make food and water for himself and his party, etc...

all mages have both fire and ice spells, they usually just pick 1 type of magic so they can be more specialised and have access to more powerful spells of that type. You can be a fire/ice mage hybrid, but I doubt you'd be as strong as a fire mage or ice mage.

It doesn't matter much which you pick though: you can always respec (that means you can go to a trainer, and he clears the skill points you spent on the skill trees, so you can use those points again on other skills instead) at any time, which is good if you ever decide you don't like being a fire mage and want to change to ice instead.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON'T DO IT

Neos is warning you against the soul-killing power of WoW.

It is a fun game, and well made. (despite all the dozens of huge problems i have with it which led me to cancel my account)...

you will get sucked in and it will be hard to leave

Games I am looking forward to:

PC: Diablo III, Fallout III, Stacraft 2, Spore, Empire: Total War, American McGee's Grimm

360: Madden 09, Fable 2, Left 4 Dead, Blood Bowl

I have played WoW, I might start back up this summer. Every class has something special about them. Mages have crowd control, good magic damage, and are living vending machines, as you can create infinte free food and water to heal HP and MP (outside of battle)

Ice is more defensive, Fire is more aggressive, and Arcane mages are only good at high levels and they are basically glass cannons. You can level either as fire or ice, ice though you need to target more than one monster at a time with your aoes. You can use all spells; your talents starting at level ten make your fire/ice/arcane spells more powerful. Mages have low def and Hp but high magic.

There are other caster classes you may want to try. Shamans can summon totems to aid them in battle, and wear armor so they have higher defense, and use hammers so they have higher melee attack, and can heal themselves in battle and have good burst spells. The downside is they have no crowd control and limited mana, and their healing/melee/magic is worse than that of priest/warrior/mage.

Warlocks are quite powerful. They have good offensive magic, and good debuffs/drains against enemies, and can summon demons to help them in battle. Their weakness is that alot of their moves require special soul stones that they need to make

Priests are primarily healing, but they can also attack. Shadow priests are basically warlocks with about equal drains, but no summons, but can switch out of shadow form and heal. Priests also have a buff tree and a healing tree.

I play as druids, and they can basically do everything. Moonkins have high HP and Def, and can use a variety of spells, but really only 1 or 2 spells of each type (dot, cc ect) and have low MP, which can be remeided in a PVP match due to inervate. They can also shapeshift into cat (rouge clone) bear (warrior clone) tree (priest clone) dolphin (water travel) cheetah (land travel) and bird (air travel) They arn;t that great honestly, but if you master using all their forms toghether in battle, they can be excellent if you have good gear. Plus you only need one character to play every class :)
Hope that helped!

edit- hunters are also ranged. They attack with bows and can lay staps and sting enemies. I found them unfun, but alot of people really like them, and they are a powerful ranged class.

Also, play as much WoW as you want this summer, but be careful once school starts. WoW is a great way to fail becuase you won't want to do your homework. If you have a job you are fine becuase most jobs you go to work all day then have 2 hours of free time and play WoW then :D

^ thanks dude that helped alot

Whoa lets not forget about Paladins or Warriors now :D or rogues.

I just suggest if you ever played any mmo's then you can kinda decide if you want to play caster, melee, healer, hybrid if not you got the summer to mess around. When I first started I played 3 different classes till I stuck with a Druid. But like Hawkeye says you can easily get sucked into this game just be careful I just quit 5 months ago and played for 2 years off and on.
