Price drop is the most desperate measure. The last resort. It means only one thing. "Upcoming X360 exclusive games can not match PS3 exclusive games."

Killzone 2 and RFOM2? Bah! I would take left 4 dead over the whole lineup of PS3 exclusives. Valve is Jesus and Microsoft is god to me.

You have just lost all credibility in my eyes. Most only dislike one corporation less then the other which can still lead to fanboyism. But you actually respect Microsoft? Have you been brain-washed? If god gave me a bible that broke down constantly I'd hate him!

Don't read the bible in the bath and you'll be fine I swear! Btw, Microsoft employees have given over 2.5 billion dollars to charitable causes. For that reason alone I admire their civil spirit. Im not even counting Bill gates' contributions. You may dislike their practices as a monopoly, thats fine. So do I. But I respect the personal actions of the employees as good citizens of this earth.

And that my friend is exactly why I am convinced you are brain washed. Honestly, I'm glad we have a million idiots giving money away to lost causes so they can say they care about the children and all that bullshit but really, if I pissed money I would have no problem doing the same thing.

And if you couldn't tell, I'm not the religious person in the world. You apparently missed the pun but here's how the joke goes. You compare Microsoft to god; I compare god to Microsoft. Microsoft's bible is the 360 and it breaks down constantly which is why I'm hate them. I make a jab at a console and on some rare occasion it had some wit and subtly, but people miss it. I'm starting to doubt humanity.

jk

I think my eye for subtlety is blurred. I really need to get some sleep. I still don't think you should read your bible in the bath! So I got some of it, just not all of it.

Lalalala another day another battle against the forces of darkness for the forces of light. (No judgement on the qualities of the consoles, just that one is black and two are white for the most part anyway)

LoL, Metaphors anyone?

Think they will respond during holidays maybe with a price cut.

I think it's really too early to see if Sony should respond or not , we have no idea how much MGS4 has made an impact taking into consideration the possibility of supply constraints.

The price drop in europe didn't kill the PS3 it just stopped the 360 from becoming irrelevant.

Sony will not want to take a price cut in US if they can avoid it. Therefore they will wait and see what happens if and when MS cut price.

If 360 gets a minimal boost a'la Europe then I think they'll hold firm... if 360 shows signs of getting a serious shot in the arm then I think they'll have to price cut in US or risk letting 360 accelerate away.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Maybe they shouldn't respond. The American economy is weak so I think a price-cut for any console would be slightly nullified as-well. They are making a slight bit of profit per console now and must slowly dig themselves out of this hole they have dug. If the X-box sells 80,000 a week which is my educated guess, then the PS3 is still selling 50,000. Just because the competition is doing better doesn't mean you are doing worse. Focus on your strategy and reduce the price when you can produce the machine and turn profit selling it at 300$.

They have a strong line-up this year so I'm happy and sales will go up to (I'm guessing) the 60,000 mark when the 80gb is in stock.

Actually console sales generally weather poor economic environments well as they are a relatively cheap continuous form of entertainment.  Where on Earth do you get the idea Sony are making a slight profit per console?  As of Q1 this calendar year they were losing between $80-120 per unit according to their own numbers.

According to the NA sales thread a large number of people have seen significant quantities of the 80GB console in the wild.  Though I agree that one console selling better than another isn't a direct sign the lesser console selling poorly, such low sales after the PS3's biggest exclusive so far (and for at least the next year) are very concerning.

Goddamn can you be smug and annoying. Anyway, take a source: http://gizmodo.com/344141/ps3-production-cost-down-50-sony-finally-breaking-even

I don't have time for your silly debacles for I am currently engaged in a conversation about religion god and charity. I have all the games I'll ever need so frankly I could care less about sales; I'm only here to talk games.

LOL!!!!

That source quotes someone from CITYGROUP who GUESSED that Sony were making a profit on each machine.

Sony's actual numbers THREE MONTHS LATER proved quite the opposite.

360 Price Drop will result in generating a loss for every 360 sold. MS are desperate, they are almost about to concede to the mighty PS3. MS  last chance if it does not make inroads into PS3's weekly lead, X360 is finished.
