Forums - Sony - Sony's Arrogance?

Good post, though I have to say I find it highly entertaining that the only arrogant Nintendo quote you could find was in the SNES era. You could have at least pulled some N64 era stuff. I know Nintendo were douches then haha.

I just used this one article as a source... I wonder how much shit I could have found on the Virtual Boy and Power Glove LOL but I'm not that vested in it.

The point was to say that Sony's not the exception they are part of the rule of console makers, but obviously some (Cryoakira) completely musinderstood and again tried to convince me Sony BS when I am saying that in my OP.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Ah.  Haha Vitual Boy.  Man I would love to see some stuff Nintendo has said back then!  Yeah, I agree every company says stupid arrogant crap sometimes.  Honestly I think Sony has gotten MUCH better with their recent press releases.  I haven't heard an insult from them in a long time.

Look at previous claims by both Microsoft and Nintendo that were also totally BS... I didn't say they aren't BS ing did you even read my post at all? or did you just read the thread title?

I think the point you can make though, is that there's a difference between completely misrepresenting your technology (lack of rumble in SIXAXIS because it's "last gen", nevermind the lawsuit behind the curtain) versus arguing the advantages of your approach (cartridges are a much faster storage medium than CDs).  Plus, people are always going to care more about the present than the past.  Nintendo is not the same company they were 10 years ago, and neither is Sony.

People call Sony arrogant more for how they treat their customers than what they promise ...

Both the PSP and PS3 are examples of a company which believes that their customers will pay any price for any product that has the word "Playstation" written on it; I could be alone, but I believe that both the PSP and PS3 represent a departure from the strategy which made the Playstation and PS2 successful.

ok there.

it can be easily said Wii is a example of a company which believes that their customers will pay any price for their underpowerd console just because its the new thing Nintendo.  $250 for somethig with equall power to the original xbox that now cost $100.  Thats supposed to be treating their customers great ?

This is not true, the products are expensive because of the stuff under the hood not because Sony is raising the price artificially to milk the customers...

The decision to have that much under the hood you can question but don't tell me they are working their customers when they are losing money on every single PS3 sold...

You're both partly right. Sony thought they could charge that much for a console because it is the Playstation 3 afterall, the predecessor to one of the most successful consoles ever (THE I believe). Since they believed they could charge so much, that's why they felt justified putting all the power and things like Blue-Ray and asking people to pay for it.

 -edit-

And yeah, everybody shows arrogance (I still remember believing my Nintendo Power that CD's were not the way to go) but Sony was pretty obnoxious about it this time around.

Almost true. The original xbox, if you can find it brand new, still retails for 179.99. They refused to drop it lower cause they already lost so much and there was no point in losing more. If it is lower, it's retailers trying to get it off their shelves.

Also, no one from Nintendo claimed they'd sell 5 million consoles without games. You have to admit that right now Sony is not in touch with their PS2 consumers.

You already gave that comment far more attention that it needed.

just saying, they are selling something thats at the level of the old gen at double its price.

hows that for treating the customers great ?

What the are doing with the PS3, they are very much in touch with them (well atleast me).  They just should have looked more at the breakdown of wealth of their customers.  And the starting price of ther product to be available to the mass market.

they did sale 3.5 mill on one game, they werent that far of LOL
