No because when you have content for 1080p/720p whatever it runs at there is more space taken up.

It couldn't possibly be that large. MGS 2 probably had around the same overall length of cutscenes (possibly a bit less), but it was able to fit on a PS2 disc. So if they downgraded the graphics to a MGS2/3 level, it should fit on 1 or 2 discs.

First of all, lol at MonoSodium Glutamate 4.
And AI doesn't improve with console power. AI is just as dumb as it always has been. People still refuse to shoot through glass, and still sleep or run in circles when confused. Games aren't getting harder and everybody knows it.
The AI in GTA4 is like... people have a couple more responses, and they still choose them at random. They're not intelligently reacting to the environment. You have X number of NPCs with Y number of possible reactions, RANDOMLY SELECTED to produce Z amount of chaos. The programming could be run on the NES.
It's the graphics engine and number of moving things at once that demand more resources, but those can be toned down.
GTA3 and FF10 have been ported back to NES. I don't see why MGS4 and GTA4 can't be.

I doubt Bioshock would transfer over well either because there was some pretty complex AI involved with the Big Daddies. I'm not too tech savvy so maybe I'm wrong, but how is the Wii at handling complex AI? |
The Wiis weaknesses aren't its cpu. Its cpu isn't that bad, and is pretty modern. Its its amount of ram. Now for AI the cpu is the most important. I don't think there is a game that uses very complex AI on the hd consoles except GTAIV. So the Wii most likely would be able to handle it at the same level.

Expect someone to come in and say that the difference between Wii and PS3 is bigger than the difference between NES and PS2.

That is wrong. The difference between the wii and ps3 is the same as that between the gamecube and Magnavox Oddysey. Yep that is the powerz of teh cellz

Then why can't the PS3 handle Wii Play? It doesn't even have an IR pointer.
The fact that the Wii has 1/4th the main memory (and not anywhere near that of video RAM) of the HD consoles is really what prevents these kinds of titles from showing up on it.
Its easy to knock down the graphics a notch or three. Fitting a game that barely fits into 512 MB (256Main/256Video -- I know the X360 can draw the line elsewhere, but this is how it lines up for cross platform games, most likely), into 91 MB (64Main/27Video)... that's not so easy.
Dare I say... so hard that it demands the game change fundamentally, and thus the publishers won't do it, and likely Nintendo won't allow it, unless the game is nearly as good looking on the Wii as it is on the HD platforms. Nintendo doesn't want side-by-side comparisons if the other platforms are going to look better. I would wager heavily that shipping a game cross-platform and including the Wii means that you make the Wii look pretty dang good next to the HD consoles, or you lose the Wii deal.
