Forums - General - Man Cleared for Killing Neighbor's Burglars in Texas. Damn Right!

Whether he is excited to kill them or not has nothing to do with the legality of shooting people on private property. I wish more Americans would take responsibility for their neighborhoods like this group does. I bet that neighborhood crime rate has dropped.

(I am a Liberal. I believe people need to be guaranteed the right to protect themselves and each other.)

.031 murders per 1000 more in the U.S. then in the UK.

But we have a lot less robberies and burglaries... Yee Haw!

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I don't think anybody should have the right to kill anyone anywhere unless their life (or at least a human life) is in fact at risk. As Sqrl pointed out we don't know the full details of this case but if the men were unarmed then what we have here is a vigilante shooting two unarmed men in the back as they run away - I don't give a flying fuck if they were robbing his neighbour or not, its still not justice in my opinion and I don't believe the law should allow it.

If they had pulled out guns then its an entirely different case but the article says nothing about it.

More people should stand up to criminals in this way i support th outcome of the situation, two less scumbags out on the street.

The neighbors life wasn't at risk when they saw that he caught them.

The owner of the home wouldn't have been in danger if he had been home.

So he should wait until two criminals who are in the middle of a crime pull out there weapons.

A persons property is their life, so they can break in and steal a person's livelihood and he is powerless to stop them.

I certainly wouldn't wait for the government or an insurance company to fix my life.  I'd be waiting for a long time.

No lives were in danger, therefore no lives should have been taken.

He could've shot their feet, legs, or ass and not killed them. He aimed for their backs to kill them. He killed one, cocked his shotgun again, and killed the other one. He wanted to kill them. He found an excuse to murder people and get away with it, and really wanted to do it. He was talking to them. They were running away. He wanted to kill them. The man is a murderer.

Yeah they weren't innocent, but it's not a citizen's job to dole out the death penalty to people committing non-life threatening crimes.

I'm not saying he was wrong to interfere. He was trying to do a good deed. But he knew he was gonna kill those fuckers before he even grabbed his gun and opened his door.

I would rather that he tortured them until the cops showed up than murder them.

Who is to decide whether he was in danger or not, he caught two people robbing his neighbor. If he hadn't have shot they might have been running the other direction (towards him).

That's a big maybe. They're dead now. We'll never know because they were shot 3 times in the back.

And he didn't even know his neighbors.

"I'm gonna kill him," Horn said.
"Stay in the house," the dispatcher said.
"They're getting away," Horn replied.
"That's all right," the dispatcher said. "Property's not worth killing someone over. OK?"
"---damn it," said Horn. "Well, here it goes, buddy, you hear the shotgun clicking, and I'm going," he said.
"Don't go outside," the dispatcher warned.

Horn says he came out his front door, down his porch and confronted the two burglars. The next sounds heard on the 911 tape are Horn ordering the two men to stop … and then shooting them both.

"Move — you're dead," he said, and fired his shotgun three times.

"Both suspects were shot in the back," Pasadena Police Captain A.H. "Bud" Corbett said. "Not at the same angle, but both suspects were hit in the back."

did anyone else find it funny he was getting death threats from the people who thought he was wrong to shoot them?
