At least I have some past sales and review data to support my opinion that a franchise like Gran Turismo is held in higher esteem by more people than Mario Sluggers or Wii Music.

Please show me this coparison. I would love to see it.

Lolz whatever you say. Most peoples opinions including reviewers believe other wise. Especially since in gamerankings nintendo has 4 games in the top ten. More than any other developer. Namco has 2,EA and rockstar have 1(2 diffrent versions) Its your opinion though so no big deal.

Ok, had to see that. I took 10 best "microsoft game studios" games and 10 best "nintendo" games from gamerankings and counted up their avg scores:
MS 87,8
Nintendo 85,9
So reviewers say that ms wins. ;)
edit: of course on wii/360
Since we're discussing software here, being offtopic and there are HD console defenders here, three words for you guys: Tales of Symphonia, to be exact Tales of Symphonia 2. Infact, all this month Namco bandai is profiting from the Wii, and yeah, its namco bandai that is developing Super Mario Sluggers so they have a part of sales of Super mario Sluggers. Which means with proper advertising and hype 3rd aprty games DO SELL, and the casual player only buying the Wii is debunked. And if you think 188,000 one week sales was bad in japan? Guess what, with only 6 million userbase so far and Japan becoming handheld country over 100,000 sales was a accomplishment.
Hey! Lets not forget about Star Wars FU for the Wii as the definitive and the must own version in all of versions, also a exclusive game only for the Wii Star Wars Clone Wars.
And SONY was desperate that they even made Buzz, Little Big planet and Singstar just to cater the casual audience, guess what it'll never succeed and yeah, Nintendo was 5 steps ahead of them. In this E3 with announcements from first and third parties so far, this'll be for core gamers this time.
end of core gaming days prediction:
E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced
E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.
E3 2010- Tape runs out

Um nintendo owns retro studios(formally by R&D or research and developement), paper mario is developed by intelligent systems which is a division of nintendo, and super smash bros is the only valid one since it is developed by hal laboratory's which is 2nd party. Most of the games you mentioned are 3rd party games that could go to any console. Some have exclusive plans with microsoft though.

Fair enough, I don't know much about who owns which company so I'll go with your word there. :D

Not quite, what you have with the past GT sales data is info to show that people like GT...nothing else. Without full sales data for Mario Sluggers, Wii Music, or Disaster there is no valid WW comparison that can be drawn.
Even if we did have conclusive data GT is a single game in a single genre...what about everyone who isn't into racing games? A handful of upcoming games will always have strengths and weaknesses, I won't argue that GT is a strong racing title, it is, but that doesn't mean it counteracts everything Nintendo has to offer.

Of course the we are talking about future games. So why show present ones. Also we are comparing the qualities of each company over all time. Not just on the current consoles.
I think the E3 will be a Wii-event. Sony and MS show there Wiicopymotes, not a big surprise and nothing spectacular.
But Nintendo will show some games for hardcore and adult gamers:
and many more.
3parties show their new Wii games:
and many more.
MS and Sony can hardly compare with this lineup.
| Kyros said: Please show me this coparison. I would love to see it. LOL time to split hairs? The last four GTs sold 10-15m copies each, Mario Sluggers just opened up with 60k first-week in Japan and if Wii Music sells 500k I will be very surprised. (Which would be a success because I am pretty sure they didn't pour huge development resources into it) Arguing against the obvious doesn't make you look good. And splitting hairs like this doesn't help either. These are the things I do not understand in this forum. I mean Nintendo will of course announce some big-budget games at E3. They keep their cards close that's no secret. So arguing that the actual announced games like Wii Music can in any way compete with the announced games of Sony is both weird and pointless. |
WHy wouldn't it. Wii fit/wii play is on track to out sell it, and wii sports already did it. Now you could argue that it was bundled, but wii fit isn't, and it seems to be selling amazingly. If it doesn't pass GT3 i'm sure it will at least come close. So why won't future wii titles? And also I crossed out mario sluggers for a reason.
