Forums - Nintendo - E3 08, Ninty's definitive/deciding event in this console war?

Here is what I expect from this E3:

1- Lots of games announced for the Wii, which will kill all the myths about Wii's software lineup.
2- Sony and Microsoft announce their WiiTooMotes.

If both of these happen, the ensuing meltdown will be unprecedented.

If that happens the Wii will have to use it's money to find a way to revive Notorius BIG and pull Ma$e out of that church or whever he is now.

If Nintendo does announce a bunch of big core games (especially surprise 3rd party games) - Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Kid Icaris, Kirby, Fatal Frame, Kingdom Hearts, Monster Hunter, (and who knows what else) and at the same time MS & Sony announce they are basically copying Nintendo's Wiimote and Miis then I think this will effectively kill the mindset of 'PS360 = core, Wii = casual' as they'll be colliding in the middle and Wii will be the one coming out smelling like roses.

I think Nintendo still might have another move to make in expanding the audience as well. This E3 should be very interesting.

I disagree the same people will argue it won't matter since Nintendo "Started with the casuals" while the 360 and PS3 are "expanding into the casuals".

Just how the PS2 started off for "hardcore" gamers and branched into casuals via singstar and the like.

Not that it's really a valid point.  Just a way for people to rationalize the Wii's sales because the sales offend them for some reason be it the focus on graphics, technology, or a particular company.

Erm... the console war is already decided.

1. Wii
2. PS3
3. 360

1. DS

2. Wii

3. PSP

4. PS3

5. X360

It is a five horse race. Video Game Consoles also include portables. Does it play video games on it? It is a console.

Erm...

Consoles and handhelds are different things. But you know that.

They are all competing against each other and are substitutes. Some people may only buy one of those systems for the entire generation and be content to play games on it. People have limited budgets. I know kids who have only bought a DS or a PSP and are content with that. Next generation they may buy a console instead of a hand held.

I know kids who've only bought books and who are content with that.  Next generation they may give videogames a shot.

Kid Icarus will be back on this E3.

Okay...

A console is a PS3, 360 or Wii

A handheld is PSP, and DS.

We're discussing consoles here, not handhelds.

E3 2006 was the " definitive/deciding event in this console war".

Not sure what will be announced, but there is always something, now isn't there.

I would think that there would be a few N. produced games that would be playable on the Wii Fit. Perhaps a cross-over game of Nintendogs on the Wii Fit. 2 player, one plays the Mii, the other the dog! Tricks done via the Wii Fit balance board.

Torturing the numbers.  Hear them scream.
