I've been meaning to pick this one up since the Wii can play Gamecube games.

It looks like a good game to me. I'm not a big fan with the direction of the series. I love the slow moving zombies with the occasional dog or mutated zombie to throw in a challange.

Resident Evil 4 has been a big disappointment to me. I've probably put about 5 hours into that game. I might go back to it after I play REzero.

RE4:Wii is great, as long as you don't expect the frigging scary atmosphere of the older games. The better controls and over-the-shoulder camera come at a cost. There's less tension. As long as you see RE4 as a very good 3rd person shooter with a great atmosphere it can't really dissapoint.

I still love RE4 for what it is. The best 3rd person shooter. But what I want from RE is survival horror. So in RE5 I want:

  1. Less herbs
  2. Less ammo (when I finished REmake for the fist time I swear I had 8 bullets (in total) left)
  3. Less guns
  4. Not a stupid attache case that must weigh at least a 100 kg (8 items max! on normal, 6 on hard)
  5. Puzzles, RE4 hardly had any puzzles

Sadly we already know RE5 will be even more runnin & gunnin, but one can dream

RE 0 was a ok game. Like you said it show the age of the series. For me the worst part was that annoying item system. Smaller item capacity with every (useful) weapon taking 2 slots is ok. Lack of an item box is not. The transition between the stages is very shitty. When you move from Mansion to Lab you have to backtrack and get a shitload of items and you must make several trips. I lost more time managing the items than killing zombies on that game.

The plot was also weaker than the average RE. The last boss tells you what the game is all about minutes before the final battle and I wish there were more characters (even knowing they would die anyways).

All of the REs before RE4 haven't aged very well as the mechanics that were considered tolerable back then will know be considered pure tedium i.e. you have to have character face direction in order to walk in that same direction

i loved resident evil zero, sure its not the best the the resident evil series. but i enjoyed it alot.

I have to disagree here. Yeah, it does control horrible, but the fixed camera's provide much more atmosphere than the over the shoulder view.

Also the complete inability to control your character does provide some very tense moments.

But I never understood why the controls couldn't be normal (as in player moves in direction you steer him/her).

I haven't played, but as far as I know the enviroments are prerendered... other than that according to you the game is easier than REmake?? I really loved REmake for the challenge, if I can find one I might give it a try...

Well, REmake had an invisible enemy difficulty setting, of course this is more challenging than a regular hard mode. But RE Zero doesn't give you that much ammo and herbs on hard mode, so it's a good challenge as well.

I remember  how do I unlock the "kamikaze zombie", then the "invisible zombie" and then the "invisible kamikaze zombie", but if the lack of items help with the challenge sounds ok to me...

Hate for REzero? Whohaa never saw some hate towards the game o__o....

ZOMFG you opened a thread about RE without inlightening me:|!
I have to disagree with your statement that REmake is harder then REzero. It just looks that way because the opening part of the game is pretty easy (where as in REmake you get thrown into the survival action right away). REzero had all these weird strong bosses that could really be a hard challenge, though I agree that the puzzles are a bit easier.
All in all REzero is GREAAAAAAT! Umbrela Chronicles is surprisingly good too (i'm at the ending of the game now).

Resident Evil preference:
-REmake (GC)
-REzero (GC)
-RE3 (PC)
-RE2 (PC)
-Resident Evil Umbrela Chronicles (Wii)
-Code Veronica(GC) (terrible, terrible game!)

I enjoyed Resident Evil Zero. Not the best RE game but it was still good.
