I just have one question. tri-Ace said that SO4 was suppose to have beautiful graphics and the Star Ocean series sells like 1 million+ copies per main installment. Are they lying or does the game being published by S-E have something to do with it?

Well, you then need to take development teams, and their proficency and time with the what they are doing. IMO, I'd tend to think that Tri-Ace is a little bit more focused on SO4's development, and has better financial backing (therefore able to take a greater risk) than Namco's Tri-Cresendo or whomever is making ToV.

And remember: how many Tales games does Namco make? 4 a year? I tend to think that the dev team for Tales games tends to not be as focused on making a masterpiece as much a given SE team is...A good example would be Lost Odyssey versus Blue Dragon (I love both, FYI). Feel Plus + Mistwalker was MUCH smaller of a dev team than Mistwalker + Artoon as far as I know. Which game looks and plays better? Again...Talent has much to do with it. Feel Plus is made up of former Shadow Hearts guys, and some of Japans best developers....Artoon? Not so much.

I just got to say one thing.  LO is great and all but Mistwalker seemed to forget to polish the game a little more.

Tri-Ace did say that SO4's development was going smoothly in some interview that is really hard to find.

I watched a gameplay video the other and it was sooooooo bland. Not interested at all.

What do you mean bland? Meaning not enough action/skills? It hurts when they don't have a good magic user in the demo X_X Will you get ToS though? I want people to buy both personally but I hope if you don't have interest in one then buy the other...

If ToV doesn't turn out that good, then maybe, I will consider ToS:DotNW

Well I am not a big fan of action RPG's. I prefer turn base or strategy RPG's. The combat system just looked a bit meh. The scenery was dull too.

Haven't really looked into ToS. Maybe I will buy it. Is it an action RPG?

lets not forget that the Saturn had JRPG dominance for a long time, that was untill FFVII was launched.

The only JRPG I know of that was on Saturn was Panzer Dragoon Saga

...Are we still basing the entire ToV experience based on a 10 minute demo? Last I checked, JRPG demos were (again) useless. The FFXII demo sucked. The Blue Dragon demo sucked. The Eternal Sonata demo was good (but only revealed the best parts of the game, IMO)

Shame!

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

FFXII demo wasn't bad but it was certainly lacking.  FFXII turned out to be a great game though not quite as great as FFX IMO.

That's my point. The FFXII demo was not indicative of the final product. The context of the areas you were playing in didn't give you any idea about the rest of the game. No license board, monster hunts, story, character development, music, or anything "meaty" was in the demo. Just 2 random, pretty crappy areas of FFXII.

Likewise, ToV's demo is a random area lifted with a few battles, some cutscenes, randomly assigned skills, and a boss. Big whoop. You can't determine a JRPGs merit in 15 minutes of random playing...The battle system could be incredibly deep, but we don't know. The story could be the best Tales to date. The music could of been it's worst selection. The character interaction could be awesome. The other voices of characters could be much better. But we don't know, outside of 15 minutes of gametime.

So until August comes, I'd sugguest holding your breath on saying ToV is mediocre, or whatever.

ToV having the best story in the series isn't too far fetch.  It is suppose have the most mature story in the entire series.

I'll believe that when I see it, because so far I haven't.

It would be nice if they drop the prejudice themes for once, though.
